So thankful for this service and the local, friendly ferry captains & staff! It's a reliable hourly service and on busy days when crossings are full they will do a double run so your wait is cut in half. It's a quaint and rustic coastal experience that is a great bookend experience of the floating pub!

Organized and efficient. This is the only way to Protection Island and the Dingy Dock Pub if you don't have your own boat so...Staff are friendly locals

When you visit Vancouver Island it's a must to explore Nanaimo. It sits in the middle of all things to do for the adventurous. Protection Island & The Dinghy Dock Pub sit across the Harbour but only accessible by boat.The Protection Island Ferry is about a ten minute ride across the calm Harbour waters. An enjoyable way to travel to see the Island and possibly a real life Pirate. The Foot Ferries are well maintained and clean.I highly recommend an Adventure across Nanaimo's Harbour in a Protection Island Ferry.

Nice little ferry, friend;y skippers, takes you to a fun pub. A little pricey but not too bad. Good hours of operation. Recommend this. Protection Island is nice for a stroll, take some water and a snack and head to the shore on the North side of the island for pretty views.

This ferry will take you to Protection Island. It costs $12 for return trip. The staff are friendly. It is a quick trip to the island. I saw Barbour seals on the way to the island. The waiting area is stuffy and crowded.
