Gourlay-Janes is a small, oceanfront park that is dog-friendly (off leash).Swimming is good at high tide, but the beach is gravel/soft muck, so not a great experience at low tide.The views of Ladysmith Harbour and the peninsula are quite nice.There are benches for sitting, if you want to relax.

Parking is very tight and is a bit of a walk into the park, but once you get there, it's a very pleasant and serene place.

Walking down to the ocean view part I was lunged at 4 times by a large black dog who was with his owner. Dog had no recall skills at all. Owner said he likes females and kind of laughed it off and said this is an off leash dog park, right? I said yes but I was not ok with being lunged at. Even had to hold on to something to steady myself. Please leash your dog if it can't be controlled.

Very nice little park by the ocean. The walk down is about 5 minutes. Private spots to sit on the grass. Or go down to the water edge and explore. Compared to the big beach in Ladysmith, this was nice and quiet.
