My team at Seniors Relocation Services moved a lady into Richmond Retirement Residence. They said it was a place they'd be comfortable leaving their own family. The staff were friendly and warm.

We moved our Mother here in June. I find the staff here very friendly. The residence itself is clean, tidy and well kept. They have been very supportive during the transititon. I have seen the food and she quite likes all the dinners, the other residents and is very content which gives us peace of mind. Its wonderful. MD

This home is great if you don’t have issues that require extra care, which we were paying extra for.My mom had a stench of urine in her room and the staff and Manager didn’t address it when I continually brought it to their attention. The manager said to me “you know that the girls that are working her have been here for a long time and they’ve lost their sense of smell. I kid you not. Otherwise if you don’t have extra needs, it’s pretty nice.

I have recently joined the team and have been blown away by the dedication of our team members. The residents are warm, friendly and proud to call The Richmond their home. The main floor and lower lever have lovely renovated spaces that surprise you and the suite themselves are well kept, clean and bright. If you want your loved one to live in a place where everyone knows your name and genuinely cares - this is it. Boutique comfort in the heart of Belleville.

The Richmond Retirement Residence
The Richmond has been part of Belleville for many years. It is well worth a visit if you haven't been there recently. I visited recently to visit a friend and can say the residents are happy, food is fantastic, building is clean, and the staff are so friendly. I would recommend The Richmond to anyone looking for a Retirement Home.

The Richmond Retirement Residence
My daughter moved to the Richmond Retirement home in November of 2014 after being involved in a motor vehicle accident where she obtained a traumatic brain injury. The Richmond Retirement home was made aware of the requirements and all her physical needs. Despite this; the home failed to meet those needs and she was evicted from the home in 2020 after she went missing from the home and police found her. There was a failure by the home to check on my daughter when she did not come down for meals which resulted in my daughter who suffers from a traumatic brain injury going missing from the home in Feb of 2020.On return to the home, staff would lock us into the room, tape the door shut, and open the door constantly despite we were made to stay with our daughter as the home refused to take any responsibility for her after she went missing from the home. We were told that the only way she could return to the home is if one of us stayed with her.On one occasion, my daughter's call bell - a button used to signal the nurses when a resident is in distress was not working next to her bed in 2021. At the time my daughter was having a severe seizure. I used the call button several times and when no staff came, I was forced to call 911 myself. I attempted to call the home from my phone and the nurse on duty answered the phone and hung up on me. On more than several occasions, medication errors were made from 2014-2021. On several occasions, nurses would not witness her taking her medication despite the home new that my daughter had a history of mental illness and suicide attempts. I eventually took over administrating the medication to my daughter. There was neglect with providing my daughter with enough food or meal replacement offers when my daughter could not eat a certain food at mealtime due to bell’s palsy or allergies. On more than one occasion I had to buy meals for my daughter outside of the home. Food was often overcooked and there were times that she was unable to cut through it. Expired products were served on more than one occasion. Food portions were also very small lacking the nutrients my daughter needed. They refuse to follow any sort of meal diet despite several talks with the kitchen manager. There were times my daughter was verbally insulted by staff and the general manager, had private info shared by nursing staff in the open dining room. I witnessed this first hand. The rooms are not properly cleaned. Recycling is often left for days in the laundry room. Recycling is blocked by a wheelchair making it hard for residents to put their recycling in the bins. The washing machine was often dirty or taken up by PSWs. During covid restrictions, trays were left in the hallway all day. During my stay with my daughter staff refused to empty garbage from her room. My husband and I took over cleaning the room due to the lack of it being properly cleaned. A resident in one of the rooms reported to me that there were bugs in her room and staff refused to do anything. My daughter went to the general manager on two separate occasions to report a staff member being in her room. On both occasions, there was no reason for the staff member to be in my daughter’s room. On one occasion I witnessed this same staff member going through my daughter’s kitchenette cupboards. When I brought it to the general manager's attention no actions were taken against the staff member to protect my daughter from abuse by a staff member. That staff member is still employed at the Richmond retirement home. My daughter also had an MP3 recorder go missing and a Wii fit game. We also heard of another resident who reported a theft of alcohol in September 2018. Despite video evidence, no actions were taken to protect residents from abuse by a staff member as required by the Licensee’s abuse policy and the legislation. Several other thefts were since reported by residents in the home.During my husband and my 13-month stay with our daughter, we witnessed residents being handled wrongly and yelled at constantly especially those with dementia.

The Richmond is a retirement residence that truly cares. Staff are always friendly and treat everyone in their senior community with respect and compassion - making it obvious they love what they do. The food is delicious and the menu items are made by the chef's onsite - giving the meals that homestyle quality with the finesse of going out to a nice restaurant. There is always plenty of fun activities and entertainment. The Richmond really is retirement living at its finest!
