Spinnakers James Bay

They are a generally friendly staff. I've heard the wine selection is above an beyond. Myself I like vodka they have a wonderful selection from the lower end Alberta springs to top shelf that are made locally with individual batch #s an the stopper that goes poot when you open . Other then 1 maybe 2 staff who have just dealt with so much bs during covid I'd highly recommend this one . 1 star off because danm it's priced higher then bc liquor store an 1 off because the few high strung employees.

Nice little store. Staff was very pleasant. They didn’t have exactly what I was looking for, but I was pointed to an acceptable alternative.

Slightly pricey but understandable considering it's an independent store. Very good selection of craft beer tall boys and ciders. Wine selection is also better than average. Remember to give the cashier a tip!

Assume the store is closed. If you think to go here, assume it's closed and go somewhere else. The staff close when they want and it's completely unreliable. If it is open it's wildly overpriced.

This store doesn't honor the price shown on the shelf if theres a difference at the till, and this has happened to me more than once at this store. The cashier would not fix the price when told the shelf had a sale ticket. It doesn't take a big chain store to offer good customer service. If this is the store's policy, its false advertising and it's slimy. Theres no need to do this, Spinnakers is already one of the more expensive stores in the city. This happened June 8 2022 around 6:00pm, 6 pack of Russell beer advertised 12$ came up at the till as 16$. hope they fix their system and retrain their staff, not that I'll be back anytime soon to experience it!

One of the worst liquor shops I have ever been to. Not just once but more than 10-15 times as we live in the same apartment building as this shop.I didn’t pay attention that they charge deposit on wine bottles and beer cans BUT they don’t take back empty bottles & cans to refund the deposit. What is this?People are giving more stars to this shop coz it stays open longer than the Govt. Liquor shop across the street as that closes early, but hey!! they DO take back empty bottles and refunds deposit money too. They are spacious and larger collection of everything.Another point, if it’s the distance that I should go to this shop that doesn’t refunds deposit money, and I have to still go to the other govt. Liquor shop, why shouldn’t I buy liquor from that govt. Liquor shop too?This is not a good business practice… who’s pocket does this deposit money goes to? You’re a private shop, so why are you charging us deposit money?

A good and varied selection of wine and liquor, but their beer and cider offerings, at least at the James Bay store, leave something to be desired. And the prices! I’ve no idea how they get away charging 10-20% more than anyone else in town, but thankfully there’s a government store nearby. They may not be open as often, but the selection and prices are far better.

The service is good and the staff is very friendly. As you would expect, the prices are somewhat higher than the nearby BCL, but the selection is much better and the hours are more convenient.This is my go-to liquor store- the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the owner's recent, questionable decision to remove the tip option from the machines. I don't usually tip cashiers under normal circumstances, but during a pandemic, tipping front-line workers seems like a nice thing to do. Not sure why they removed the option now, of all times.

Refused me service with a medical mask exemption. Harassed me out of the store after I repeatedly explained my situation. Also refused someone I was standing beside because they were apparently my friend". This business practice will not age well. Luckily there's a BC liquor store 300 feet away with better prices and much more respectful staff."
