Calhoun Bay Provincial Recreation Area
The campground was in a very poor state. Roads were extremely rough, campsites were dirt with almost no gravel. Large puddles on entrance to many of the sites. Firewood is also very hard to find in the area. The positive about this campground is that it was very quiet.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2-night stay at Calhoun Bay. Trees, water, and good weather. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the water is only really usable for boating. Not inviting to swim in from the narrow shore access. I don't think you can launch anything with a motor from the shore either. We got a good site in the back corner of the loop. Lots of trees throughout the campsite. The sites closer to the road are slightly cramped compared to the ones deeper in. All of them have moderate to good privacy.Toilets and non-potable water pump are an easy walk from most sites. Toilets are clean. There's a path at the end of the loop that takes you on a short marsh hike.Limited cell reception. No firewood on site. We went into the town of Buck Lake and got a pair of bundles for a good price at the General Store.Overall, it was a nice, simple little campground. Great if you have a canoe or kayak or paddle board to enjoy the lake with. The sunsets were epic!

Unfortunately Buck lake is not accessible unless you have a boat.. no fishing or swimming from the shore... boat access only, beautiful but will never be able to return unless it is with a boat.

This provincial recreation area is a nice drive from Edmonton. Something you could easily do after work on a Friday. The sites are a mix of shaded tree campsites and also a more open prairie style. There are 2 dugout bathrooms on site that are a little worse for wear, but functional. There is no potable water. There is a small boat launch, but no beach or water access for swimming (the lake in my opinion is not ideal for swimming). The campground had a very green swampy scent to me. It has 1 hiking trail that is about 7-10 minutes long.In the town of Buck Lake there is a farmers market on Saturdays that is a fun trip, and also other points of interest in the area.Overall not my favourite provincial park, but it also depends what you're looking for in a camping experience.

Very nice camp sites with lots of trees. Saw a lot of wild life. Fairly clean bathrooms. The garbages were overflowing.

This small campground is fantastic! There’s a small loop with water access, via a beaver stream, then a larger loop with nice sized lots. There is good hiking and great fishing on the lake & from the boat launch. The bathrooms were well maintained.

Personally, I find the cost of $28 + $12 reservation fees for just a PRA with a couple one-holers is outrageous. No wood either. However, I did see a beautiful sunset across Calhoun Lake.

Simple campground for fishing or to go off on adventures elsewhere or for introductory camping. Need to bring wood and water. Quiet when we were there. Lots of mosquitos. Short walking trail on site. Vault toilets were clean.

A beautiful campground with the lake and nice treed sites. Sadly, no hook ups. I love camping here, regardless. Beautiful sunsets!!

For those who want to get away from it all, this is a great spot! Quiet campground, brilliant stars on clear nights, and a lake that sunsets look amazing over. Just be careful of some of the sites because they can be awfully close to your neighbors but most are secluded.
