Budget Car Hire - Inverness Airport

Website was a bit poor, the deal offered was for a car but when booked it was a van! arrived expecting a small van but ended up with one the size of a transit... it was good, and ok for 2 of us blasting round the lochs but they use the term “similar” a bit too loosely! the Merc has a cubic size of 3.5m vs 8 in the peaugot so over double the size....

Never, ever, EVER hire from these guys (or Avis Inverness- same company)! Decided to hire a car. Mission out to the Inverness airport on a bus. No staff at the desks...call a mobile number on the door of the kiosk. Fine. I do that. Chap tells me i can't book in person, have to do it online. Go online, book a car, pay for car...AFTER which it gives me a whole raft of things i need to provide in order to rent said car, none of which i have with me! Try to cancel...wants to charge me the same fee I have JUST paid (£75), to cancel the transaction!! Phone airport guy number back in tears! He says he will cancel it for me...thank God...don't have to pay the termination fee, but STILL paid £75 for a car I couldn't take!!! NONE of this would have happened if there had been a person - I would have asked to rent a car, they would have asked for documentation, i would have said i didn't have it and sorry for me, but i would NOT have spent money! ABSOLUTE SCAM!! SO SOOOOOOO angry!

Dear Budget Customer Care,On 15 December 2018 I had reservation car with Budget that i pay full in advance. Long story short, the staff cancelled my reservation on the day i show up at airport. The staff promise me the full refund!!Well i already emailed and called there but the process of refund just failed. I just feel really disappointed having experienced  with Budget car rental. I should not just trust the staff about the full refund.I will not booked with Budget again.  Never experienced  this such difficulties at any part of other countries with other car rental company. It's such a tiring process  for more than a month and lost amount of money that is not little. George promise me to get a full refund and dont worry to much. And now we lost 552 pounds without any confirmation and any car.Travel with family and young kids.

I booked an intermediate sized SUV and received a very small compact SUV, parked right by the mid size SUV I had booked on the website. After finishing the paperwork and walking out to the lot to pick up my car, I didn’t have time to go in and deal with it so we drove off. But I’m very disappointed, and it’s already made carrying our groceries very difficult in addition to our baggage.Reply to owner:The vehicle we booked was Group E" - Intermediate SUV

Had an unusually good experience renting a car, the lady at the desk was very helpful and the car was in good shape. We also weren’t charged hidden fees or pushed to buy their insurance etc.

We tried calling their number 4 or 5 times and they never picked up which was problematic.Ended up driving to the car hire location and the staff were fairly friendly and fast to respond to our problems. Good service in person! We switched out our car because the old one had problems with the door lock.

We had to swap the rental car we picked up from Glasgow due to a faulty rear door that didn’t lock and had also had a faulty window. Inverness was the nearest location for us to swap our automatic.We weren’t able to reach them by phone in the morning (after calling 5+ times and holding for as long as 12 minutes) so we committed to the 2+ hour drive form Skye. Luckily they had 1 automatic car left that they swapped for us at no charge. The staff at the Inverness location are fantastic and really nice people! I just wish we could have reached them by phone.

Check your tyres when you inspect the vehicle before driving off.We had to return our car which meant a 150 mile round trip because all 4 tyres had cuts/tears in them one of which was bulging making the car dangerous and illegal to drive.We noticed the tyres the day after we arrived at our destination and phoned budget at inverness airport but they were closed. Phoned again in the morning and the person we spoke to said we should return the vehicle but as it was not roadworthy they said to call Recovery who would take the vehicle with us to Inverness airport. We called Recovery but they could not get to us for 4 hours which meant we may not get back to Inverness Airport before they close so made an appointment for between 06:00 and 10:00 the next day.We received a phone call from a garage in Aberdeen at 09:30 and they said they could not get to us for 2 hours and may not be able to take us all the way to Inverness Airport so would need to hand over to another recovery vehicle. As we did not want to wait another 2 hours we decided to drive to Inverness Airport.When we arrived we were met by the person who we spoke to on the phone a day earlier who apologised and after inspecting the tyres said that the car should not have been put out for hire like this. We were offered a new Mercedes which we accepted but as we checked the tyres one of them had a tear in it so we couldn't take it. We were offered another Mercedes but after sitting in it we decided it would be too big for the roads we would be driving around the highlands. It was also automatic which I was not keen on driving so asked for a manual drive car and were given a VW Golf which was very nice and good to drive.We were not charged anything on the vehicle with the damaged tyres including the petrol used.As we had lost 2 days of our 7 day rental we were offered a refund for these days which will receive after the 7 days. As I had not received this after 11 days I contacted Budget on Twitter and they have processed the refund.The Customer Service at Inverness airport was very good. It is the people who check the cars who have let them down.

Just went to Inverness weeks back and rented a car from the Budget Car Hire. After reading these reviews, I was worried, but had a wonderful experience. There were plenty of people at the desk, they answered all my questions and got me a great car. As far as people saying they are charged more for insurance, liability insurance is a requirement in the UK, so if you have questions, just ask ahead of time.

Disgusting company! Fraudulent and we will fight them all the way to court. Please please read the reviews before booking, we wish we had. Trying to charge us for damages that we did not do! Luckily we took photos when we returned it to airport as no body was there to check the car with us. This proves it was not damaged on return. We even washed it to ensure it was in good condition. Have already informed credit card company if they charge us without authority it will be fraudulent.
