Spruce Bay Summer Resort is interesting and different to say the least. Don’t let the word “resort” in their name fool you. I’ve been to other sites across Alberta and this one left an interesting impression.Pros:A beautiful lake and quiet surrounding area.Well kept trails/paths.Clean sites overall.Cons:Limited information online/website.No drinkable water for tenting/campers so be prepared to bring your own water and/or filtration devices.Cabins are rustic, feel run down with no plumbing/running water.Washrooms & showers for the cabins are proportionally small to the number of people & cabins offered (tent site washrooms are better and cleaner). No map of the area/sites (only a hand drawn one at the office which you have to take a photo of).On-site purchases (firewood, treats, snacks) is “cash only”.*Sidenote, showers take only loonies to use, we asked for change from the office…they only had eight loonies on site… I could only laugh…Owner/operator is rude and money grabby (constantly checks and charges daily usage fees for your own kayaks).Quiet time at night is completely non-existent even though it’s apparently at 12 AM / midnight as RV/trailers were partying, yelling, drinking till 3 AM.RV/trailer sites are nose-to-nose so don’t expect any privacy. Can't honestly say I'd recommend or be eager to go back based on our experience sadly.

Fun place to camp. Right on the water. We stayed at the bottom of the hill and it was really nice but a touch challenging to get into. I fit into it with my 18' camper.

This place is poorly managed and run down. The sites are crowded, beach is small and more like a dirty sand box. Owner/manager is a grumpy guy that doesn't seem to like dogs or people having fun. There's a reason why there are only 3 pictures on their website. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The beach has some decent shade in the late afternoon/ early evening. The kids like the docks and slide, it's unfortunate how much seaweed is in the water though.

It was alright, it kind of reminded me of a place that you'd see in the movies. We rented the fishing boats a few times to kill a hour here and there. I didn't think anybody rented boats or paddle boats for that matter.I'd recommend going there to camp. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that there wasn't a whole lot of shade per se.Mostly big Poplars, was hoping for Pine or Spruce trees but regardless we enjoyed our few days there.

The camp ground is alright but the management is ridiculous I get no dogs on the beach but to yell at my wife for letting our senior dog have a drink at the boat launch is just disrespectful he was leashed and it was 30 above. He yelled at my wife not realizing I was there with her I gave it right back to him. It was very awkward after that. I wouldn't let my kids play at the beach either it was more like a slough I've never seen so much sea weed at a beach anywhere only Positive was not having to pull my boat from the water.

There is absolutely no beach and the waterfront area is poorly maintained. They charged extra for long weekend camping, and they charge $11 a day if you take your kayak or canoe of your vehicle and/or put it in the water. A very expensive stay for an average resort; felt like there were extra charges for everything. The campground itself is beautifully maintained. The shower house is nice and well kept.

Worst camping trip I’ve ever been to. They will charge you for everything and anything they can even for putting a float in the water. I’ve never seen a place run so poorly. I’ve never heard of a lake charging to use a floaty it’s absolutely ridiculous and I’ll never be coming back and I suggest no one else ever goes if you don’t want to be scammed

What a hidden gem!! In May a friend invited me to come out and I didn't even know the place existed even though I only live half an hour away and since then I've been back I think four times. You can't book online so a lot of people probably don't know this place exists which is amazing because it's never overcrowded like other places. You can rent paddle boats and motor boats for cheap, stayed in a cabin and it was like $100/night!! Did our family get together there this last weekend and everyone loved it. Thank you so much, we will be back!!

Do not believe what you see with the pictures on their website. They are from back in the 80s-90s when there was actually a beach (the whole campground, and cabin units are VERY outdated). There is a tiny sand pit for kids to play in, but no actual beach. The tent sites have no privacy what so ever. And there are no rules on quite time. People were still loud and partying at 2am. The young lady working was super friendly and very helpful. The old guy seems like he hates his job. The boat rentals I will say were a great price. Overall, I can’t see ever going back.
