We've recently come from another LTC facility in west London which was horrible. My Dad has been here a week. The staff are so cordial, polite, positive. Have called me about relevant things. Great sign out and sign in processes. ID bracelet. Dad was showered and dressed for our Father's Day outing. Never happened at the other place. The staff knowledge, training and processes are impressive so far. Well done McGarrell. I feel good leaving my Dad with you such a complete difference in LTC facilities.

I had the honor of meeting Mr Joe he was a very arrogant being. He deliberately was very rude to people of color. This is everything that is wrong with Canada which all leads to tensions all around. I think he should take some course on humanity or should be fired as we do not need such persons who look down to other actually hard working people of community.

It's been 20 months to the day since my mother was arbitrarily transferred from hospital to mcgarrell. 606 days and nights, 1800 meals and diaper changes, 1200 snacks. I'll state now that for profit healthcare leads to added stress on everyone. I've watched staff burnout. 4 managers quit. Nurses with COVID testing negative ONCE back at work interacting with patients. Disease spreads rapidly. They hire temps to fill the shifts of all the staff isolating at home. Mom has had Delta and Omicron 5 in the home. I am the only primary caregiver to my mother. She is now suffering with dementia and is entirely dependant upon others. I began caring for her full time in 2017, in her home. I've seen every aspect of healthcare suffer degradation since that time. For profit nursing homes receive the same funding as public/municipal/private/and non profit homes. All are expected to follow the same guidelines, directives, and laws from the government, towards the same expected outcomes. Non profits spend everything on care. Private homes can be the best or worst. Municipal homes have local oversight. For profit homes are private corporations. Profit increases as staff productivity increases. The front line is part time. It's a brutal race to simply provide the minimum care required. Residents ask for help to go to the bathroom. They sometimes beg. Or cry. It triggers repetitive calling out for Nurse. Nurse. Nurse. Nurse. Nurse. It happens every day, several times. And the calls for help are usually just ignored. Holding a man's ✋ as he urinates at the table, ashamed, helpless, feeling abandoned, and less than deserving of dignity. As do I. Because I am my mother's primary caregiver. But I do advocacy for all, the staff and the residents. I run for help when I find someone fallen to the floor. Because insurance liabilities. I drove to Toronto to speak with Doug Ford. He refused. He cut oversight from nursing homes to cut costs. He will do the same with all healthcare in Ontario. Sure there's rules. But only once annual compliance inspections. Investigations are carried out by phone. Enforcement has been gutted. So when your loved one requires care, they will (you will) require a primary caregiver. For access. For oversight. And to keep your loved one from going mad in loneliness, despair, and a wet diaper, calling nurse. Nurse. Nurse. Nurse.Other than that, the residents in the psych ward are some of my best friends. I look forward to being able to visit. I appreciate the staff for doing their jobs under deadline, without adequate pay.But it's still getting worse. I'm tired of fighting the corporations, the health unit. Ontario health, and Premier Ford, AND our offensive and now invisible and silent head doctor". And our condescending excuse for a Cabinet minister for Health. We're in trouble. The nursing home for profit model is a failure. Wear a n95 mask

I challenge anyone to find a better longterm nursing home. I have had a loved one under the care of McGarrell's wonderful staff for the past three years. From the director, to the many department managers, to the great personal service workers, these people work very hard in a very difficult field. Thank you for all your help.

My father is in here. As this place is close to home it makes life quite easy. We visit him almost every morning.

I am so thankful for incredible team at McGarrell. The BSO team has been very supportive and have helped my dad. They are great at also communicating any issues or needs he has.

Very warm and inviting with what really seemed like caring and attentive Staff. My Father is at the moment thankfully in the stage of more of a Retirement community than what a long term facility would offer. At least we know of it for the hopefully far future.

I have a family member who recently required immediate transfer from hospital to nursing home to free up the hospital bed in preparation for COVID patients. Mcgarrel Place had an opening. Next day, move in. The staff is friendly, careful, thorough and responsive. Management response is within 48 hours, but are present at least 2 days/week. Doc is in 1 day/ week. I'm not easy to please, but they do their absolute best.

It’s just the Schedule and the one doing it for the staff that chases the staff away. If you’re part time you don’t have the right putting your availability, she will book you regardless of your schedule. Union does nothing about it.
