Highlands Hostel
We had an excellent stay at the Highlands Hostel. Bricin and Patricia are excellent hosts. The church is beautiful, the bell tower is a one of a kind hang out spot, the jam room is incredible, and the RV outside is a funky spot to chill. They have tons of games and puzzles to enjoy.If you’re looking for a great place to stay while checking out Cape Breton, I highly recommend Highland Hostel.

Where to start? We stayed only for one night, but this hostel is one you definitely remember! Amazing welcome by the owners, very great atmosphere, the discovery of baby hockey, very well maintained. If you go to Cape North, you have to stay there (and more than one night ^^)

Highlands Hostel
This was quite possibly the best hostel experience of my life. Where to begin? First, amazing location - right off the Cabot Trail, easy access to beaches and parks; and Peter was kind enough to drive me to and from a nearby bicycle rental place. Second, Bricin and Patricia (and kids) are kind and thoughtful hosts, great conversationalists, and fun people to be around. (And party with.) Ditto for the volunteers, Lynn and Courtney. Finally, the hostel itself is awesome - clean beds, full kitchen, and so on. I want to go back!!!!

Five star all the way! Great hosts, location and uniqueness! Love the building, very cool! Very clean and quiet after hours. As always, an interesting cross section of travelers and volunteers.Highly recommended for those of us who enjoy hostel living.

Highly recommend this place to everyone. If you’re thinking about booking, please just go ahead and book now. Bricin and Patricia are two of the most welcoming people I have ever met in my life. I have never enjoyed myself so much on a solo trip as I have staying here. I will be back very soon, and I will be bringing a group of friends! Cheers!

Exception service above and beyond! Bricin, Patricia, and then entire crew was so hospitable and helpful. Bricin even helped us connect with a bike mechanic in the area who saved our trip by coming straight to the Hostel and working on our bikes. Highly recommend the place!

Had an amazing time out there at the hostel. Really felt welcomed at the place by Bricin and Patricia. The location was fantastic as I could go to all the good spots while being in the center. The place was really clean and well maintained by the whole team including amazing volunteers like Lynn and Courtney! Would definitely visit again some time!!

Highlands Hostel
My friend and I spent two nights at the hostel and we can only echo what’s already been said. There’s a reason this place has so many 5 stars - incredibly clean, amazing location, homey environment, safe etc. The host family is exceptionally kind and hospitable and their great energy attracts lovely travellers and volunteers of all ages. Bricin planned an entire itinerary for us one day which allowed us to see some truly incredible local gems we otherwise would not have found. We recommend staying two nights to experience it all!
