Stately residence of the British High Commissioner. This building is very well maintained. It was once the residence of John A. Macdonald the first Prime Minister of Canada. The view from the dining room overlooking the Ottawa River is to die for - on that topic John A. died on the second floor. The current residents have displayed many unique artworks which lend some modernism to the rooms. The grounds are amazing, they must have a very talented Gardener.

Resident of UK high commissioner to Canada. Open house on June 4, 2022. Advance registration required for entry. They had a band playing whole day oldies and offered mini scones and mini meat pie for visitors while opened up their garden and residence to visits.Nice Victorian trimmed house with stone exteriors. Dinning room is nicely furnished in ocean bleu tone and mid 19 century style furnitures. Mix of modern and classic. The rest of house was furnished with furniture made from a small company in England, seem 1950-70 style.

Open to the General Public on Ottawa's Doors Open in June, this is one of the highlights. Basically the sister houss to the falling apart 24 Sussex, this house has been beautifully maintained. The gardens are exquisite.

Perhaps one day I will be in Ottawa during it's Doors Open Ottawa and can visit this long-coveted home. Please let me know if it is ever for sale or if 110 Sussex Drive ever is. Imagine being one of 2 exclusive homes overlooking the Kitchissippi River (Ottawa River - Rivière des Outaouais). I would welcome being invited for a swim.

Beautiful! Really well done for Doors Open Ottawa and the Queen's Jubilee. Welcomed by the High Commissioner and thanked her for her hospitality and for the band playing music from hits from my youth. She laughed and also commented they were from her youth as well and we both agreed that they were great!Excellent nummies were sampled & sipped and the interior of the home itself is historic and stunning!

I went on open doors day and was super impressed. The British high commissioner was out greeting everyone and she was super lovely. She basically opened her house up for the public to see and treated everyone as guests. The house itself was really cool to see given its history. Overall a very nice experience.

I visited for Doors Open Ottawa, and I had such a great experience. The residence itself was gorgeous--as was the garden space--but the real highlight was meeting the British High Commissioner. She was so friendly and welcoming, and her staff were lovely enough to offer visitors lemonade and ice cream. I will always cherish the memory.
