About the Business
Tidnish Dock | Nova Scotia Parks | This site marks the eastern terminus of the historic Chignecto Marine Transport Railway - one of Nova Scotia's most ambitious engineering projects. The project called for the construction of a 17 mile (28 km) long double-tracked railway from Fort Lawrence on the Bay of Fundy, across the isthmus to Tidnish Dock on the Northumberland Strait. Vessels were to be floated on huge wheeled cradles, which would be lifted by hydraulic presses to the level of the railway. The vessels would then be hauled across the isthmus.

Had a lovely time. The beach is pretty nice and the waves are so gentle. Great picnick area with shade and grass. The only downside was the multitude of jellyfish.

A great place for a picnic by the ocean. When the tides go out you can walk out on the old pilings they were making for the Chigencto Ship Railway. Also, there is a trail head near the parking area that leads along the old rail bed to a suspension bridge near Tidnish Bridge. About an hour from the park to the bridge and back. Cannot recommend this place enough. A gem.

Tidnish Dock Provincial Park
This is a good beach with washrooms and change rooms. There is running water to clean off (do not drink). Biggest issue is the amount of rocks on the beach. It makes it really hard to go swimming. You would have to walk out a long ways for no rocks. Other then the rocks it is a very nice and quiet beach.
good job bob

Clean, plenty of parking, and some of the most beautiful lookouts and scenery. You won't regret a stop here.great for swimming especially at low tide - this is one of the closest beaches to Amherst.
