Working with Setter was seamless! They provide membership-free access to their customer base helping to grow our business. Setter took care of most logistics, including billing the customers, so that our we're able focus on installing artificial turf which is what we do best.

Imagine trying to schedule dinner with your flakiest friend who takes hours, if not days to text you back, with no clear response as to whether they will be able to make it or not. Now throw in the lack of reliability that virtually all contractors are known for, and voila, you've got Setter Home Services!While the app is a nice idea in theory, be prepared for your messages to go days without a reply. And things that could be resolved over a 5-10 minute phone call will be drawn out over the better part of a week, if not more, due to the aforementioned lack of reliability. What fun!I originally thought Setter would be a great way to get all my future renovations done. I tested them out with a smaller roof & eavestrough repair job (somewhere in the neighbourhood of $1500), and got absolutely nowhere with Setter. I initiated the process in the fall, they said it would be better to revisit in the spring for seasonality reasons, which was fair. So here we are and I am no closer to having any work completed. I will not be using Setter for my upcoming larger renovations. Very glad I only tried them with a smaller job, I can't imagine being left hung out to dry when a $50,000 kitchen job is at stake. We have already engaged another designer to manage the projects for us, while our Setter-led repair will likely never be completed by anyone related to Setter at all, and will hopefully be able to be folded into our larger coming work. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer to be left hung out to dry by traditional contractors, not app-based ones. Ha!

Setter is always a pleasure to work with. Whether they are providing my company with work or taking care of all my home needs, the experience is always quick, simple and painless. Their professionals are all tested well and perform great work. Just by having them provide a home inspection they can save you an enormous headache full of future problems. I would always recommend Setter for any home needs and will use them myself if anything at my house breaks.

I was hopeful that Setter was going to be a helpful solution for a few home projects but they are simply not up for the task:> When I contracted with them for home drywall install they were confident their Pro could get the job done quickly and efficiently. After the first day of install, it was very evident the “Pro” had minimal experience hanging drywall (if any) and I needed to stop them immediately - gaps between sheets that were hung in incorrect directions, etc. (see pics). I contacted another sub-contractor and we had to tear everything down before starting again. I give 2 stars here for the customer service received from Jesse on the Setter team for stopping the Pro immediately and providing a small credit.> Giving Jesse the benefit of the doubt and having already had a Pro provide a quote, I gave Setter the opportunity to make up for the mishap and engaged with them for tiling services for bathrooms. Long story short, the project they quoted would take 8 days of labor ended up taking 14 and nearly double the initial quoted cost. The Pros they sent showed up late, left early and some days did not show up at all. The part that was most disappointing is that Setter charged 3 days or work for a task that took a single day and auto-debits your credit card once they have it on file.One of the biggest issues regarding Setter is not being able to communicate with the Pro themselves and having to go through Setter which often causes long delays and added costs (i.e. if a Pro needs more of a certain material, they let Setter know and eventually you’re notified during M-F business hours). Setter also states they’ll provide the basic materials for the job (sponges, gloves, wipes, etc.) and then sends you a bill for them afterwards.Setter should take a step back and secure qualified Pros before expanding to any additional services or geographies - I would not recommend you waste your time/money until they do.

Here at Vacuflo Built-In Central Vacuum Systems, we enjoy working with Setter Home Services and their clients. They are very good at organizing and scheduling the work they offer us. We are always provided detailed information that we require to perform our duties as efficiently as possible. As well they are also efficient at taking care of billing to ensure we are always paid on time, every time. As a homeowner myself, I understand how difficult it can be to find knowledgeable and polite trades people for home repairs and inspections that will actually arrive at times they promised. Setter keeps the communication between the customers and trades flowing promptly to avoid any unnecessary delays or time being wasted while on site providing our services.

We recently worked with Setter to install our stair railings post purchasing a home. While we were appreciative that Setter came back with several options after we requested, we were bewildered to come home to an unfinished project. Setter never contacted us to inform us that they could not finish the project in a day, the invoice clearly outlined that our railings will be painted, but to this day we have received zero communication from them on intended next steps even after texting and reaching out on their app.

I wish all companies worked this efficiently!Working with Setter has been an absolute pleasure. Having worked in the trades industry for 2 decades as a construction employee, electrician, contractor, home inspector and now in consultation and sales, I can say I've come across many great home service companies but none that stack up to these guys.Their team is effective, prompt and diligent. Nothing falls through the cracks and their communication is top notch!I would highly recommend Setter to home owners and quality contractors alike.
