Ascension Martial Arts

Great new name and logo but same top quality instructors and supportive environment for learning martial arts. Our 12-year old daughter has been training here for nearly 3 years and we wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. There is a real sense of community and helpfulness amongst everyone that trains here. I love that there are girls/ladies-only Jiu-Jitsu classes too. Child, teen or adult, I highly recommend you check out Ascension Martial Arts. Keep up the great work guys!

What a great spot! As a beginner, I couldn’t of asked for a more welcoming, friendly and personable group of professors & community. I really feel at home when I’m at Ascension.Combine the above with top grade facilities, and it’s match made for some of the best BJJ & martial arts experience I’ve ever been part of.

My son has been coming here since he was 4 (8 now). It is an amazing place with fantastic instructors, they have created a family atmosphere and he looks forward to going every week. They have also been fantastic role models for him, I cannot say enough positive things about this place.

My husband and I tried a Jiu jitsu class here for the first time and we had such a great experience!We were in contact with the owner Shawn and he communicated very clearly with us through text to get us setup for our first class. The coach Seb was very welcoming and not intimidating at all! He was warm and friendly and made sure we felt comfortable. He did a one hour introduction with some basic moves with just me and my husband before letting us join the class. During the class, he had a purple belter and a blue belter guide us with the moves and to watch our form. He even talked about some techniques in case we need to use jiu jitsu for self-defense in real life.Overall, we felt very well supported and we can't wait to go back!PS. do not book this studio through the Classpass app, they no longer work with Classpass but their studio still shows up. Call the studio instead to try out their classes.

This is the third kind of community type gym/dojo I’ve been a part of and by far the best one yet.Amazing and approachable coaches, who truly care about you and not the money you pay them for the membership!The team mates and athletes are very supportive, encouraging and uplifting. Every man or woman you train with, has left their ego at the door. There are there to learn and help you learnBest group of people I’ve come to love and admire. You should come check it out for yourself!

I feel privileged to be training at this gym. The instructors are thorough, patient and the atmosphere feels like family. For exceptional training in Martial Arts and Kickboxing West Coast Martial Arts is the Best! Awesome for the whole family. I am Loving the training! You will Love it too!

Both my daughters attend ascension martial arts. The instructors are patient and kind with all the children, but also teach them respect and discipline. I am very happy I found this gym to teach both my daughters jujitsu and kickboxing. If you are a parent searching for a gym to take your kids look no further. You will not regret bringing your kids here. Alex and Shawn are great instructors and people.

One of my sources of happiness and stress relief through out the week. I can't speak highly enough about the group of people that attend this gym. As a newcomer, you're helped, and welcomed. I haven't experienced inclusivity at other gyms like I have at Ascension. The instructors are fantastic and very knowledgeable. I drive from Langley to Poco just to go here. I've had an amazing experience so far and I highly recommend.

Let me give a better review , my 1st one wasn’t the most descriptive!My son started muay thai training in kindergarten and had been training with Shawn Albrecht for close to 9 years now and with Alex he has trained for about 5 years. And honest to god , this is absolutely the best decision we ever made. We have all witnessed his progress over the years and are just amazed . From a cocky little kid to a tournament fighter. He sees this and he thrives to get better. We have watched him grow not only in his fitness and skills as a kickboxer but also his leadership and work ethic are really excelling. Since he was young , many people comment on his form and techniques. This is all because of Shawn, Brody, Alex and a host of other coaches here at Ascension. Their attention to detail and passion to teach is second to none. I advise all parents to give their kids the opportunity of MMA. And there is no better place then Ascension. Absolutely great people with a passion for what they do.
