We arrived pretty late as the gate closes at 5:30pm. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We got a brief introduction of the history, visited the fort, and got a map to aid us to the next sightseeing place. Google map search doesn't work well on the island.

1812 Era fort. Great view of the lake from the hill top were the fort sits. It's a ruin now, but well maintained. There is a vistors center with a small musem. The staff is quite knowable and there are often displays from that time period. When we visited they had a black smith on sight. Well worth the drive if you like Canadian history.

Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the history of the fort was interesting. Although the ruins are mostly just stone foundations and very little remains, the site is charming and the views overlooking the water spectacular

Well maintained and a wonderful view into the history of the colonial times. This museum gives great care in providing credit to all people who were part of the history (from the first peoples to the British soldiers.). Beautiful site. Has direct connection to America’s independence.

Very cool if you're into history! Don't be afraid to ask questions of a Parks Canada guide! It's only open during the month of June and it's quite a drive from sault ste Marie, but worth it if you like history and old architecture.

We lucked out. Arrived at 1045 and were the only guests. They happily stored our motorcycle gear and let us know abot the musket demo at 1130. Docents Mike and Jordan were over-the-top fantastic. Gave us so much detail about the fort but also how people lived. Got intersting details on the two different muskets. Mike even changed flints in the flintlock, showing the differences between English and French flints. Jordan fired her musket with precision and then proceeded to show us the different furs on display, noting subtle diffences. She showed us her work-in-progress Metis sash. Such talent.Would have given a 5 but the 3.2 km driveway is now gravel, unlike 6 years ago ahen we first visited.
