As the executive director of the equine conservation nonprofit the Equus Survival Trust, I work with over 50 rare breed societies. NPS is one of the better ones. NPS has a fairly strong constitution in place, supports keeping the organization for the breed in its birthplace of Newfoundland, supports protecting and promoting the traditional pony and keeping the gene pool closed to protect its heritage, and uses DNA parentage testing to certify pedigrees. Well done!

Newfoundland Pony Society
NPS has been very supportive helping with identification and registration of Newfoundland ponies. They recently offered grant money to help cover costs of DNA testing. They have been the driving force in the preservation of this extremely rare breed. As a new breeder, I have found their lineage database extremely helpful.
