They lost my deer skull. Also, before that, they called and told me it was done. When I came to pick it up, I saw that it was not mine. I would recommend going to other taxidermists, as there are many others to choose from.

Recently got a Lynx pelt tanned and made into a rug. Service was great and prices very reasonable. Also I was able to chat directly with Mat the taxidermist to go over colours for the rug. Highly recommended and I’ll be returning for future taxidermy art.

I had a bear rug done recently , the quality was mediocre and it was over priced after I checked around . I also took in a bear skull to be cleaned, now almost 9 months later they cannot find my skull. I believe they lost it, and will not admit that they lost it. My skull was finally returned to me...only took 10 plus months to get it back

Just recently I had my deer hide done by western fur tannery. I have to say they do a very good job. I am very happy and satisfied. I would recommend this tannery to everyone who is looking for a professional job.

Jan 4, 2022 Do not fall for the 5 star reviews. There was a thread on Alberta Outdoors Dec 21, 2021 where at least 7 people complained of serious problems with lost hides, and others chimed in about issues like that going back at least ten years, re not getting their own hides back, taking way longer than promised, hides being lost completely etc. Single biggest problem is management and owners complete failure to make it right. That thread shows when you do a Google search, but the link has been disabled and the thread has been deleted by AO. Since Western is a sponsor on AO, I guess that isn't surprising. Seriously suggest you look for an alternative place to get your hide tanned.

Had ordered a lovely pair of seal skin mitts through Western Fur. They were very fast with sending them out and communication around any questions or concerns I had. The mitts are beautiful quality and lovely to wear in the freezing temperatures where I live. Over all very happy and pleased with my experience with this business. I look forward to doing future business with them around furs and tanning.

I drove up from Calgary to have western fur tannery clean my deceased cat’s bones. They did a great job! The staff were friendly and informative. I am very happy, and at such a great price, So worth it!

They did a great job with tanning our elk hide. Very happy with the results.They were very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend them.

This past fall I finally had the opportunity to work with Western Fur Tannery on a very special bear, brown (black) bear! I've been keeping up with their work for quite sometime now and fell in love with their bears.Coming from a family where bear hides were a yearly occurrence from our hunters, I became quite particular with whom I wanted to work with when it came down to my personal animals (after our fella retired and my dad passed, there was a long period of no new furs around home).Fast forward to Oct '21 when I dropped off my fall bear. They were extremely accommodating to my drop off schedule as I was coming in from the North on a time crunch. They were super friendly & welcoming! Their shop and displays were amazing, great first inperson impression!The bear had a lot of character that I wanted captured...and boy oh boy, did they ever knock it out of the ball park on that! Absolutly an amazing job well done!! Mr. Bear had a full spa services with Western. Removal of his skull, claws/paws, bleached skull, felted and added hangers. May '22 I got notification he was ready to come home! I have never experienced such a fast turn around, it sincerely made my day! They kept me updated, informed and shared the finished product with me right away! I was in love! They did an absolute amazing job, I could of not asked for anything better! I am one happy and extremely satisfied customer!!! Thank you so much Western Fur Tannery, it was a privilege working with you!I sincerely give them five stars for the time frame, five stars for the price, five stars for their great service & five stars for overall experience! Brought these guys a few pieces I really had high expectations for. Obvious professionals as the furs turned out better than I had expected. Beautiful work, high attention to detail, and a great job making a big hole dissapear on one of my bigger pieces. I Highly recommend this company. Also the staff took me in for a tour of the business (which was more than interesting) and showed me some wildly exotic projects as well as some pieces there artist had completed for realistic movie props. Some of the finished products looked so lively I couldn't figure out if they had been shot yet! There was giraffe, elephant , porcupine , prong horned antelope and all kinds of things I've never seen. Two thumbs up. Thanks Western Fur Tannery. I'll be seeing you again!
