Maria's Home Daycare - MHDC (Ottawa downtown)

Both my kids went to Maria’s home daycare - my son from 2014-2016 and my daughter from 2016-2019. During that 5 year period, we looked at Maria as an extended member of our family. The kids were very happy there. They regularly did lots of activities, both inside and outside Maria’s home, including attending playgroups and going to museums. Maria would do lots of educational activities as well. Both kids could easily recite the alphabet, count in different languages, and knew lots of poems and songs. They were well placed to start kindergarten by the time they left, which their teachers confirmed when they started school. I would not hesitate to recommend this daycare to others.

My daughter attended Maria’s home day care for 2 years. We all had a wonderful experience. Maria is very attentive, nurturing, and engaging. The group went on many outings including the library, the park, the NAC, to name a few. Maria’s safety practices are outstanding and I was very confident my daughter was well looked after. Maria was great at preparing my daughter for school, and encouraged her to play cooperatively with others.All the meals and snacks Maria prepared were fresh and healthy. My daughter still talks about MiMi’s food and how much she prefers it over mine! I highly recommend Maria’s Home Daycare

Maria cared for our son for three years and she did a wonderful job. She provided a loving, safe and playful environment where our son could learn and grow, and I am sure he is well prepared for the start of JK in September 2021. The food provided was always nutritious and he never came home hungry. I have zero hesitation recommending Maria to anyone who needs daycare in Centertown.

Maria has been our family care giver for almost 5 years. Her daycare is a home away from home for my children. She takes care to makes sure they are happy, learning and safe. When my oldest graduated from her daycare she was ready for junior kindergarten. The things we love most about Maria are that:- She makes sure the kids get a lot of outdoor play.- She takes them to many of the parks and green spaces in the surrounding area.- when covid was not a concern she would bring them to playgroups, the museum and on other fun adventures (all within walking distance of her house)- She keeps parents informed by sending pictures almost daily and is happy to give a verbal update at the end of the day- She feeds the kids a variety of nutritional meals which she posts on her board every week- She communicates the schedule of activities on a weekly basis through her message boardIf you are looking for a structured daycare with the perks and comforts of home for your child, this is the place for you!

I don’t have children so I can’t speak of direct experience, but I lived in the same block as Maria and the daycare for years and as a neighbour I just anted to say how thoroughly impressed I have always been. I often see Maria out with the kids on their way to the park, museum, etc., or just playing in the backyard. The kids are always well supervised and happy! She lets them play and be children but also respects those who live around her. Some of my neighbours have sent their children here for daycare and they all have been extremely happy! Thank you Maria for being a great addition to the neighbourhood!
