Second Review: 09/03/2022La Cantina offers Fine and Casual dining. Regardless of your style, it is highly recommended that you make a reservation as they can get busy at any time and any day of the week. Over the past 25 years, I have come here using both their casual and fine dining rooms and they never disappoint! Last week’s dining experience with my boys was no different than any other times I have gone in—with friends. A very pleasant greeter acknowledges your presence with a warm hello and smile and ushers you to your table. Once seated at the table, the assigned server does the same thing and brings a basket of their focaccia bread that is out of this world. Their focaccia bread is one of the main reasons I keep going back! The perfect density gives it a crusty outside and chewy inside. We almost always ask for another serving to sop up the sauces from the pasta dish. Their appetizers are delicious, and they have the most authentic pasta dishes, and I have had most of what’s on their menu. Their pizzas are as good as everything else they offer. Homemade dough, with fresh toppings all done to perfection in their wood-burning pizza oven. If you’re lucky, you might get seated where you can watch them prepare and bake your pizza in the wood-burning oven. Some people might think La Cantina is over-priced but to me, with their huge potions and great food, it is worth it! Go treat yourself and prepare to be blown away!As reviewed on Yelp - 6/9/2018In the last 3 weeks, I've been back to La Cantina 3 times. Last week's experience with a party of 7 was just as good as with a party of 2. What keeps me going back is their focaccia bread that is out of this world. On our table were a spread of, Specialty Risotto, Pizza, N.Y. Striploin, Conchiglie Frutti di Mare, Spaghetti con Polpette, and Veal Piccata. The portions were at par to price, and everyone enjoyed their meals and were quite happy. The service was good and the evening was capped with desserts and espresso. Here's where I've been let down: their espresso, served with a little cookie on the side was good but was way overpriced at $5.50. I've had better espresso at a much lesser price. In the past, I was able to order hot oil with my pizza at no cost, but now they charge $2.95 which was undisclosed to me when requested, and this is going to cost them a star. I would still go back but will go elsewhere for espresso and dessert. As for the hot oil, upon ordering, I will ask them to drizzle it on my pizza instead of asking for it later. Will have to see how that works out.

I was impressed with the food. Being of Italian descent, I usually don't eat in Italian restaurants because I'm usually dissatisfied. I cook better....but this place is great. Highly recommended. Big portions done right.

We stopped because the outside looked cute and when we entered it did look nice on the inside, however, my daughter and I got sick after eating here. The bread was extremely salty. The pasta was hard. The pizza tasted like cheap mozzarella and canned sauce and the crust was salty. The coke tasted off. The waiter was nice but I witnessed him wiping his runny nose with his hands and then rubbing his hands on his pants and then touching people's dishes. The menu's had stickers on them that said prices are 15% more than what it says. Everything was overpriced to begin with. For an Italian restaurant I was disappointed and have surprisingly had better food at the olive garden. We paid $75 for a pizza, a plate of pasta, and a coke. The coke alone was $5.50, I have never been charged that anywhere for a glass of coke and I was never even asked if I wanted my glass refilled. Just disappointed in the whole experience and won't be returning.

First time at LA Cantina and I enjoyed it. The service was great and food was even better. I ordered a Cesar salad, meatball sandwich, pizza and tiramisu for dessert. You should definitely come check it out!

Good but not fantastic. I took my family for a special birthday celebration and while the service and staff were excellent, we all felt that the quality of the food was 3.5 out of 5 stars. We have been going to La Cantina for over 10 years and every year we see a decrease in the quality and number of items on the menu. The flavour overall was so-so, not a whole lot of wow factor. The quantity of the chicken to pasta ratio in the Vodka Fusilli just wasn't enough for me. The bruschetta has drastically changed from what it used to be, now it is large chunks of tomatoes and thick slices of cheese. The presentation of the food, drinks, service and patio location are all good but considering the prices we were underwhelmed with the food.

I was there last night and I had forgotten how amazing the food was. It was delicious and the portions were huge. Take home container was a must. Service was fantastic. Can't think of a Hamilton restaurant with better Italian food!

I dined here about a month ago. I should have written a review the very day I was there but I didn't want to say anything nasty.Our waiter for the evening was attentive and friendly during the dining experience, until the end after we paid approximately $700 food bill and a generous tip...he then approached our table while we just finished up our drinks and dessert to tell us that the owner just called him to tell us to leave. Restaurant closes at 9:30 and he told us that at 9:36. We knew that we were going to wrap things up and leave but to be told that I found was extremely rude and uncalled for especially when we literally just finished eating.I proceeded to make a call the next day to the manager/owner to tell him I didn't appreciate on how we were told to leave. He took my call with a very rude, unprofessional attitude before he even knew what I was calling for and continued to be rude throughout conversation. I stated I'm not looking for anything in return but to make him aware of disrespectful behavior to customers who spend decent money at his establishment.With that said he really could have been more respectful and have better manners while dealing with customers.As for the food, I am from Italian decent and really only dined here because we took guests out for a special occasion thinking La Cantina seems to have some good reviews but was very disappointed with the quality of food....prices definitely didn't make sense on such mediocre food. You can tell the cook/owner/ manager as he told me what his title is there has definitely lost his spark and his respect for customer service. Maybe it's time to retire or change your attitude.

The food was amazing, loved the atmosphere and service. I would just reprint the menus with the current pricing instead of having the disclaimer that prices are about 15% more than listed just as a visual thing. Other than that the food was big portions, great service and a great secluded spot in hamilton.

This restaurant does not disappoint in atmosphere, food and service. The meal was delicious. We had the 'Margarita' pizza as an appetizer. The combination of topping and crust was light and perfectly balanced. The pasta mains were tasty; the chef definitely knows his stuff. From the reception area to the waitstaff we were treated with courtesy and efficiency, not to mention lovely smiles and attention to our needs.. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to my friends, I am glad we got to experience it and would go back again. No shortage of parking space and at very good rates.
