My expectations were exceeded, my experience was very memorable, and the classmates I had turned into one big family. The instructors were proficient at commanding the room and teaching the class. On top of the textbook knowledge, bits and pieces of real world application were shared to further feed our interests. Overall a very welcoming, yet professional environment to take your first step in becoming a fire fighter.

My experience at OFA was far better than I could have ever expected. The staff and instructors go above and beyond to make the course the absolute best it could be. They offer various courses that will suit your individual needs, whether you’re able to attend class full time or part time. I’d highly recommend this avenue to anyone interested in pursuing their dream as a career firefighter. I can promise you won’t regret it!

I attended OFA during the full time firefighting program in the Fall of 2022. In the 3 months I was there, it was sometimes challenging, but never failed in being fun and immensely educational. The staff at the academy are all very professional and friendly, and make sure you have success in the course no matter your skill set at the start of the program. My time at OFA really made me feel as if my fellow classmates had become a second family of brothers and sisters. If you have the goal of becoming a firefighter in the future, I strongly suggest you start that process at OFA. You’ll learn a lot and have a great time while you’re there.

OFA is a great place to learn with top tier instructors. I enjoyed my time and training very much and would recommend this school to anyone looking to get into firefighting.

I completed the Full Time Program for Firefighting through OFA in the fall of 2022. It was a 12 week long wild ride that pushed me to my limits as I had a family at home to also take care of. The program itself is designed to deliver a large amount of information at you over a relatively short time, and though it’s a lot to take on as a mature student with 3 children, it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had with post-secondary schooling. The course was engaging and the instructors did a wonderful job delivering the course content in a fun and practical way. Attending the Burn Tower was a thrilling 2 day event where we got to put our skills to use. The practical skill sessions were definitely my favourite as we got to practice in the gym and outside. The relationships made with many of the staff are ones that I know will continue on in my life. An added bonus was the Career day where we were informed of all to expect moving forward and tips and tricks – invaluable information! Can’t thank the staff enough for their support, encouragement and positivity throughout the last 3 months.

OFA is an amazing school, Mohit and staff are super helpful and understanding along with the teachers/volunteers and instructors are absolutely incredible. I took the blended program through OFA and I’m very glad that I chose this school to complete my studies. The teachers are very inspiring, and the friendships you will build here will be very significant for the rest of your life. Thank you again OFA

This program has been very helpful and understanding on the introduction of Firefighting. This program allows you to receive many important courses that introduce you to many other aspects of training. Courses such as the Auto Extrication, EFR and EMR. After this course you will be able to leave with Firefighting 1/2 and basic knowledge of Hazmat. The staffing let alone are beauty’s,providing you with their best knowledge and understanding from being in the field. They give a lot of support and confidence when going through the chapters and practices.

OFA boasts some of the best instructors that can be had when learning about firefighting. Nice facilities and very comfortable learning.

The Ontario Fire Academy provides a superior learning environment enabling a level of comfort among all proficiency levels. The education strategies guide students from basic to advanced throughout each discipline. OFA’s real world instructors establish a solid foundation, and from there build your aptitude systematically. The smaller cohorts and class sizes are extremely beneficial for your learning, quickly becoming confident to perform skills and ask questions as needed. Highly recommend OFA to anyone wanting to peruse a firefighting education… the instructors and admin team very sociable and make all the difference!
