North Thompson River Provincial Park

This park is located a few miles/km south of Clearwater, BC Canada on the river side of Hwy 5; the Yellowhead hwy. The park is nestled beside the river in a stand of mature trees offering much needed shade in the hot summer. When booking online, watch the campsite measurements; If you try to put a 31’ motorhome in a 31’ site your nose will be right on the pavement with your back end hanging over the back of the site. The sites are wide, well spaced and mostly level. There is no beach here, just rocky river shore. The park is located on the confluence of the North Thompson River which is green and the Clearwater River which is blue. You can see the two colors clearly from the riverside trails. No services at the campsites but good privacy. No boat launch, no showers, no flush toilets. There is a sani-dump with drinking water and a nice playground with wood forts, slides and modern play center.

First time at this park and we loved it! Cute sites, nice trails to the river, very cool playground for the kids, super quiet at night time aside from the sound of trains going by (not honking, just traveling)

Very nice park, but the mosquitoes were crazy and it was majorly humid. Hard to sleep in a text and make sure you have cash if you didn’t make a reservation 2 days prior to arriving. No checks or paying online. $23 per night. No flush toilets and no showers.

Stayed for two nights, kids loved the big playground. Pit toilets were the cleanest I've seen in a couple of weeks. Our spot was very nice and private and the park operators who came by were friendly and helpful. Recommended for a start near Clearwater and Wells Gray!

Love walking the trails with the hubby and dog! So peaceful with the river and forest.

Nice campground. However, the train tracks are just across the river, and they run constantly day and night. Pit toilets are a bit gross. There was boil water advisory while we were there. Other than that, this is a nice not-too-busy campground, and I enjoyed myself. The kids enjoyed the playground.

Nice Provincial campground not too far from Clearwater with access to and beautiful views of North Thompson River.-bring repellent, the place is infested with mosquitoes.-sani-dump costs CAD 5, only takes coins and to make it worse the machine got jammed...not ideal.-toilets are absolutely disgusting.-nice playground for kids.

Stopped here on a hot day during a long drive. There was plenty of parking and a picnic area with a trail that meanders in the woods beside the river. There's a bunch of little beach areas off this trail, some being pretty short but steep and rocky. The river runs pretty fast but it's nice to get your feet wet and cool down.

Great spot for a walk and a picnic. Dogs enjoyed cooling off and drinking from the lake. Saw two snakes. And sprayed on the bug spray.
