Positive: the beer is phenomenal, really delicious. The blonde and brown ale is my suggestion to try.The bartender i believe his name was justin was great.Negative: i came back the next day to try the food and the salmon chowder may have been the worst chowder soup ive had.The waitress asked if i didnt like it and I simply said I didnt, and her response is well i didnt make it". Kind of bad service the second time around.Id suggest coming here for the beer 100%"

Food is very straightforward, Nova Scotia style cuisine - no frills, basic and hearty. Typical lack of seasoning, just flour for fried foods. Salads are good, and substantial. Don’t bother ordering a martini - you will only get a shot of alcohol in a large glass. Kind of joke. But otherwise beer and wine is fine and a decent, salty place. GREAT view.

My husband and I celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day, and decided to take a second honeymoon in Nova Scotia. We made reservations for Rudder's, at the recommendation of our son.We were not disappointed in the least, as the ambiance was quaint and inviting, the service was good, and the meal was both delicious and reasonable priced.

Average at best. Maybe I ordered wrong. I got the fisherman's platter. Soggy, not crisp. The french fries were the best on the plate. The Old Fashioned was weak, almost like drinking water. Wine was good. I got an open bottle to go. Great staff, very friendly, and they were working hard but not efficient. Give it a try.

Good tasting food, lots of choices. Friendly staff.We did take out so most likely not the same. Hot lobster roll with veggies and coleslaw and wings with sauce on the side.

What a great experience at Rudders! Our servers name was Cliff, he was very prompt and knowledgeable about the menu. Great customer service. We got mussels, chowder, scallops, clams,haddock and chips and all of it was very good and hot when it came out. The chowder was very full of a good mix of seafood and big pieces of lobster.

Went here for dinner with my sister and brother, who is visiting from the States, and I was appalled at the service and the food.I ordered the seafood chowder which I found barely edible. The colour was grey, the fish appeared to be shredded and tough, and it had no flavour. I also found at least three bits of shell in it. But I did my best to swallow a couple spoonful's because I thought I should at least try to enjoy it.The server didn't come by to check on us, so I flagged her down and told her that the chowder tasted awful and she took it away without any questions as to why I found it awful or any apology. But I said I'll just have another glass of wine and the bread that was there.When the bill came, she had charged me for the chowder that I didn't even eat. I thought it was a simple error, but she said: just because you didn't like how it tasted

This is probably my go-to place to eat in Yarmouth - never had a bad experience here and our meals in our July 2022 holidays were absolutely up to par. Staff is great and seating, whether inside or out on the patio, has lots of atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Rudder's Seafood Restaurant & Brewery
While on a trip to Yarmouth, Rudder's was recommended by the manager at our hotel. It was fantastic, with great service and food along the waterfront. Our haddock was fried to perfection with a light batter. It was apparent the kitchen staff had some deep experience in how to fry fish and use fresh cooking oil. A must stop.
