Castle Butte (Big Muddy)
Southern Saskatchewan is just simply beautiful with the rolling hills and sightings of deer and prairie dogs dancing across the roads. Take some time to visit Coronach and partake on the driving tour of the area introducing you to the history and such interesting places as Castle Butte and the Sam Kelly outlaw caves. Visit the tourism office in Coronach and museum on Center Street to find out more.

Great! About two hrs drive from Regina. Must go up to the top and get in the caves (At your own risk) it’s doable.

A little out of the way, but worth it. This is on private property where the owners let the public visit and climb/ walk around, so don't go wandering far from the butte. There are caves around the base, one of which goes all the way to the center of the butte (underground). Bring a headlamp. Climb and spellunk at your own risk/ peril, the owners make no statements about how safe either is.

First time to be bengough sask. Castle butte is a relic from the past. It is in a private property but open to the public from june to november. There are tour companies that offer tickets but you dont need one if its just castle butte you want to see.

Very interesting landscape pops out of the prairie. Castle butte is about 200 feet high. We climbed it, but you must have good shoes with grips as the path is quite smooth and steep. Great views from the top.

Sask has mountains! Great spot to take the family. Bring a flashlight to enjoy the little cave. The hike up isn't the easiest but we did it with a 3year old and 7 year old.First we hit the little cave just off the parking, we climbed up to the top, walked around the mid way point and then all the way around the bottom. If you want a little family adventure get out to castle butte.

Beautiful place! Not a destination by any means but still a cool place to visit. The sign at the entrance says: Castle Butte is an iconic landmark in southwestern Saskatchewan near Coronach. As a relic from the Ice Age

Such a great landmark to visit in Saskatchewan! Can be a fun hike to explore caves and natural carvings in the stone. It can get very hot so bring water as there are no utilities near by. The drive there is also along gravel roads so make sure your vehicle is prepared!

We enjoyed the climb to the top. It is not for the faint of heart or those afraid of heights. We ranged in age from 6 to 69. Fun was had by all. I would not recommend going soon after a rain
