Travelodge by Wyndham Thunder Bay

Rooms smelled dank. First room given to me had an overwhelming smell walking into it. Second room they changed me to smelled only slightly better. Both rooms were on the ground level. Both rooms had bathroom windows open which creeped me out as I only noticed them open when I stepped into the tub.Staff were wonderful though! Attentive and accommodating. Check in and check out was smooth and speckled with joyful banter. Breakfast lady was on hand to help customers who didn’t know how to use the machines and to point out what amenities they had.

This hotel was, by far, was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The beds were full size beds, not queen. The room was a two bed sized room and pretty much that’s all the room you had. You had more space in the closet and bathroom and we couldn’t really move around the room with 4 people in it. Walls are very thin and it’s very run down and old. One night was all I could tolerate. Spend your money on a better hotel that’s worth it.

The only thing clean in our room was the bed and the towels. Coffee station gross, layer of dust everywhere, lamp shade fell off when I accidentally touched it. Bathtub had mold and hair on floor in bathroom. Staff heard my concerns and our room was not changed but they knew which attendant it was. Outdoor card readers didn't work which was very inconvenient. Breakfast was great.

well when we got here our key wouldn’t work which is fine it happens and it was fixed. but we had to go all over this maze of a motel with a broken elevator and back down from the third floor for a new key. there’s a funky stain on the ceiling and something sticky on the headboard of my bed. we had no towels in our room. bed is clean. mini fridge wasn’t plugged in and there’s no working main lights just lamps.there is no outlet by the bed for phones but there’s a desk across the bed in my room, not an issue just an inconvenience. can’t say anything about the pool, didn’t go in as we’re only staying for the night. honestly this place is ok. i wouldn’t stay again but it’s fine for the price to rest. staff were friendly.

The staff at the time of check-in were quite good. The room was large, and the equipment was a little old, but there were all the necessary ones. The mattress is also comfortable. But as soon as I entered the corridor, I smelled the strong smell of marijuana. And this is a hotel full of noise. First of all, the heating and air conditioning are very loud, and then the visitors to the next room are still noisy after 12 a.m., and the room is very soundproof. I have to get up and go to the front desk for help, but the hotel staff said: I will remind them twice. If they don't change, You can call 911 to call the police, this is your right!!! We can only endure it silently, including young children. However, at eight o'clock in the morning, their employees began to clean and operate the noisy vacuum cleaner. This is the strangest hotel we have ever stayed in Canada, and the house price is not low, the normal range. WiFi signal was very weak and useless.

We walked into the room and immediately walked out. We asked for a pet friendly room and the room the gave us was a sauna with dog food filling the AC unit. As we were loading in the parking lot was also full of people using. On the plus side, the staff was very understanding and gave us a full refund. If you can afford anywhere else, please don’t stay here.

Stayed here because the cost was reasonable compared to other places in Thunder Bay. While the hotel was clean, the staff friendly and the room comfortable it had a feel of dingy in my opinion. Pictures in the room were missing from the walls, tub tile had noticeable mold on the grout, the pool was closed and the tv remote didn't work. The free breakfast was enough. Toast, cereal, bagels and juice and coffee. In the end though, I would stay here again.

The Travelodge was a great low cost option when looking for places to stay in Thunder Bay but did not meet my expectations when listed as a two star hotel. At minimum when checking into a hotel I expect there to be a bathroom which has normal toiletries such as toilet paper, and soap but my room didn’t have any. Additionally I expect towels and small bottles of shampoo even if it’s really cheap and not great but I didn’t receive that either. The room I received looked like the wall paper was peeling off in many locations and there were not accessible plugs next to the beds. I’m hoping that my experience isn’t typical but I was disappointed.

The staff were great! The rooms were clean and have been partially renovated, but one of ours needed lots of minor maintenance attention and the elevator was inoperative. The bed was quite firm, and the pillows were too soft for them.

Stayed May 2023. Room and bed was fine. Had no issues with that. The pool was down and the elevator was down!!! Breakfast was, forget about it!! We hurriedly left. We had booked it coming back but cancelled. The staff was fine but would NOT ever come back!!! Just run down with some rather sketchy folks coming and going.
