In the last year our family realized a long-held dream of ours, which was to purchase a house in Vancouver. Anyone from the city understands the unique challenges that such a dream presents, and we did go in over asking and without subjects to inspection or otherwise, which was the only was to win. We took on the risk of the unknown with regards to the state of our 90 year old house, so it was some trepidation that I asked Darryl for an inspection. From my previous experience with him, I knew Darryl to be incredibly thorough and knowledgeable about homes, and I knew that nothing important would be missed. Sure enough there was a veritable laundry list of issues with the house, including drainage and water intrusion, pests in the attic and basement, missing insulation in walls, poorly executed updates to plumbing and electrical, damage to walls, floors, windows and the fireplace, wires to nowhere, wrong paint, wrong windows, and I can go on and on. This was a frightening prospect but Darryl helped us to prioritize what needed fixing and with what kind of urgency. With a young daughter we were particularly concerned about her safety, and Darryl took that to heart in making a plan to address issues with the property. I cannot recommend a professional more than I recommend Darryl as a home inspector. He is truly on another level as a professional and I encourage any home buyer or owner to get an inspection done by him if you are concerned about issues that may need to be addressed.

When I first started looking at purchasing a condo a lot of people said I didn't need an inspection because it was a newer building. I had Darryl from Auscan come out, who to my amaze found some area's that needed attention that I could bring to the attention of my strata. Got two condo inspections done from Darryl. The first inspection was in a building that seemed pretty good on the outside. From what I found, a lot of other inspectors who inspected other units in the same building didn't find anything concerning but Darryl was upfront and super detailed about everything he found. I ended up rescinding the offer. So glad to have found the problems before I pulled the trigger on the place. Got Darryl again for another inspection in another condo unit and ended up going through with that one.Highly recommend him/AusCan to any aspiring home owners (especially first time buyers). Trust his inspection and judgement! Totally worth it.

As a general contractor, I've come across a LOT of home inspectors and Darryl from Auscan Building Inspections is by far the best. With an extensive background in building, Darryl provides detailed reports (with video) and advice that very few other home inspectors can provide. Darryl is the only building inspector I would trust to refer to my clients and friends, and I would highly recommend to hire him if you want your future home inspected correctly and thoroughly.

Darryl is absolutely fantastic! He picked out issues in a building report that previous inspectors totally glossed over. He was upfront and frank about his findings, very supportive and thorough. I've used Darryl's services on multiple occasions. Every time I am impressed and pleased. Darryl does a great job documenting all his findings, and believe me his reports are very thorough. More importantly, Darryl understands buildings, how things are fixed, and helps you prioritize any work that may need to be done. I have used him to inspect my home, where we had water ingress issues, and his advice saved me lots of money in unnecessary work. I've also used Darryl to inspect a commercial property, and his detailed report has been a great help as we get the building ready for occupancy. He has also done multiple smaller inspection at a family member's strata building - and they were grateful to have his assessments. We used Darryl for three properties we had hoped to purchase in 2021. He was always very thorough and helpful. With the heated market , we needed him with very short notice and he worked at making it work for us.One inspection he found some major issues in an older home we had not seen and likely missed by other inspectors who has not been as thorough. Two of the other properties he had inspected, had been good enough for us to make an offer (which had not been successful) but his pre-offer inspections helped us feel comfortable in pursuing the properties.We would highly recommend Darryl for any upcoming home purchase. After all we test drive a car before purchasing it and if you are not a professional why would you spend the most money you ever will spend without a quality inspection.

Okay!! Darryl is your man! Look no more.We used Darryl for our home inspection and he was thorough and immaculate with his report. If only I could be as professional as him. He took pictures, did a write up, made us a flash drive with the report and to top it all he did a presentation of his findings. Of course, he gave me the dumbed down version of the finding but my partner got the detailed version as she was more curious and knowledgeable. There were no cracks unchecked or crevices unexplored.He also came back, many days after his inspection, to help us with something that we needed help with. He never even charged us for it. He works with integrity and he is someone you will be lucky to have him on your side. Darryl, thank you for all your help.
