While leaving Port Hardy early one morning we decided to make a quick detour to Port McNeil for breakfast. After reading up on archipelago's I decided that I would really like to try it. We stopped in and ordered one meat lovers Benny and one smokie breakfast bowl. The meat lovers Benny was quite nice, it was loaded with a great variety of meat, the eggs were nicely poached and the hollandaise wasn’t bad. My partner ordered the breakfast bowl, the portion was great and the arrangement of the dish was nice, a nice layer of cheese accompanied by potato wedges. I would definitely recommend stopping here for breakfast, the coffee is good , the ocean view is nice. On a side note I would be really curious next time to try the breakfast nachos , sounds really unique

Went here for lunch 2 weeks ago and was told my choice of syrup for waffles did not go with the rest of my plate of food, one girl who works there was visibly sick and ran out of the room to get sick ,we waited for 1hour and 45 mis to get our food and got tired of waiting so we left .

My roasted pear salad was very good but it took 40 minutes to get it, and the restaurant was only maybe 2/3 full. My husband’s burger was kind of dry.The servers are friendly and the decor is nice, showcasing local art.

The place to recommend when staying in Port McNeill. Not very big, quite some waiting times but really great food. All of it: we had the cheese burger with bacon, the fish and chips, cesars salad with catch of the day and the Baby Burl Burger (1lb of meat). After just barely managing to finish the Baby Burl" I asked how often the OMG_Burl (3 lb of meat) is ordered. Not very often! So go for it if you are hungry and up for the challenge to eat the equivalence of 12 Quaterpounder w. cheese..."

No lamb shank like I wanted. Unfortunately had a dry burger and my partners spaghetti bolognese had way way way too much oregano in it. Stale old fries in my poutine...

We stayed a couple of days in an resort close to Port McNeill, so we tested the 3 supposedly best restaurants in town: The Archipelagos Bistro, the Northern Lights and the Sportsman's Steak and Pizza House. I take the liberty to write the identical review for all 3.All three restaurants are alright, you don't do a mistake if you go there. Anyway, from our point of view there is a quite clear ranking:#3 is Sportsman's Steak and Pizza. It's pretty good, the steaks are alright, a place to feel good and relax. Try the Mango Daiquiri :-) Nice views, too.#2 is Northern Lights. A little better and a little more upscale. The menu is a bit Italian inspired, the food is very good.Undisputed #1 is the Archipelagos Bistro: Lots of French and Italian dishes like Osso Buco or Foie Gras, which are even hard to get in European restaurants. Everything possible is home made, even the fried pickles we got as starter were pickled by themself. Highly recommended.

The onion rings were really good. Unfortunately the chicken was bland in both our burgers, like it wasn't seasoned before it was breaded. The $4 side caesar salad seemed quite small considering the price.
