Egan Houseboat Rentals

The staff are amazing!! When we arrived we had a little incident and my daughter needed stitches. The staff were very helpful with first aid, ice, towels, etc. They then kept in touch through the night while we were at the hospital and made sure we knew how to get to our boat when we got back. Thank you again Egan House. Much appreciated.

Had another great houseboat vacation. We didn't get our regular Civic weekend or a bigger boat as they were booked but the 7 day alternative worked out great! A smaller group to vacation with, more relaxation and more time to explore. We wish we had the time and money to make Kawartha Lakes our second address...We love all the little towns, restaurants and shops!As always Egan didn't disappoint! The folks there are so nice and helpful. Even if an issue arises they work out a solution for you. We forgot a couple things and they lent us what we needed. Too bad they couldn't stop the rain but we made the most of the raining days!Had an awesome Civic Weekend! We will be back! Thanks to Rick and Brayden for the great service!

Great customer service.Rented a boat for a 4 day Trent Severn experience.Enjoyed the trip. Boats are dated but that reflects in pricing to a degree.Be aware that a high sided houseboat on pontoons can be a little difficult to steer, particularly in wind.

Yes, we had 2 service calls and the boat is older than me, and in need of much upgrading, but I still had a blast and those memories will last for my kids until after I'm gone. Mission accomplished. Kristen, Steve, and Leo were patient and fair with what happened and that says a lot. Lockmasters were great too.

We rented the 40 foot boat with the rooftop sleeper for 4 nights and were very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the location and the kindness of everyone we interacted with both at Egan and at the locks. This is glamping at its best.If you go, definitely make time for Lovesick Lock, which was my very favorite location. Spending a night or two at the weed beds" in the southern part of Pigeon Lake (just a bit over half an hour from Egan) is a great way to hang out with Loons (the bird kind) and enjoy nearly complete isolation once the fishing boats go home for the night. Kawartha ice cream is delicious too.The first warning I would give --- if you've never dealt with a boat like this in even moderate wind

What a great way to spend a weekend away. Cheaper than a cottage and a lot of fun to travel around through the locks. Take everything slowly and you'll have no problems! The GPS was very helpful to have this year!

We had a great time. We had our ups and down. The service we received was great. We needed to call a few times and they came out to help us as much as they could. The boats are old they do need some work. Make sure you do a walk through of the boat before you leave marina. I would also recommend flashlights and insect repellent. Also for entertainment bring a bluetooth speaker as the radio was barley working ... other than that Egan Houseboat rentals thank you for a wonderful weekend.

An absolutely wonderful experience!! The customer service experience from start to finish was excellent! Great communication, answered any and all questions, phone calls were returned promptly and professionally. We rented a 32 foot boat and went in with realistic expectations knowing the boats were older and not fancy or perfect. The cost of the 4 day 3 night vacation was affordable as was the fuel prices which were lower than other marinas despite what other reviews may have suggested. There was a full safety and information walk through where all our questions were answered. We did have some small maintenance issues that required attention however the team was prompt and communication excellent. I would highly recommend Egan Houseboat for your next adventure! Thanks so much to Kirsten the owner, the two young men who did our walk through and Zack who fixed our maintenance issues. See you next year!!

We have rented house boats twice at Egan; both trips were lovely! On our last trip we celebrated our wedding anniversary with a group of friends, it was SO enchanting!!Accommodations:If you haven't house boated before, this is a great place to start. The accommodations are much the same as a travel trailer. Some of the units are outdated, but Egan has been updating them with new flooring and material coverings on the couches and seating areas.Your boat will come with all the utensils, cutlery, dishes and cookware that you will need for your trip. You will need to remember to bring items such as dish detergents, toilet paper (and toiletries), food containers for left overs, bedding (we recommend a mattress pad for extra softness, you'll likely be sleeping on a table top). Don't forget to bring things that would make you comfortable like throw blankets, slippers and your favourite insulated coffee mug (We also bring kayaks and a fishing boat, to make the best use of our time.)Extra costs:Insurance (this is offered at the beginning of your trip)Fuel (your boat will use a lot of fuel if you travel place to place. We usually find a place on an island and hunker down for a couple of nights) when you return to Egan at the end of your trip, they will fuel you up, the price on the pump is not the price you pay, it's SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the price on the pump.Damage to the prop...know your way around on the waterways, pay attention to the signage!Remember:You only have power for things like hair dryers, curling irons and toasters when your hooked up to shore power.Get to Egan on time, or even the night before (for early departure) there will be others checking in at the same time as you, so be patient as they need to load one boat at a time.Most of the public islands have places to tie up for the night (without power). Some have trails and picnic areas, but you may not be able to have a camp fire. Look into these islands before you head out.Have a ton of fun, this is a GREAT adventure!Cheers !Courtney

Thank you for such a great vacation, team was friendly and helpful The houseboat worked great. We did a 1week and went all the way to Youngs Lock, stayed at the Locks and Wolf Island right after going through Lovesick. Highly recommend trying this at least once. I needed an aux battery change called the service number worked out where I wanted to meet them the next day and they had it taken care of fast and I was back on my way through the locks
