Free Bird is a hidden gem of the Richmond food scene. Its dishes are all delicious, though its award-winning chicken sandwich is unquestionably the standout. They have happy hour with $2 a shuck oysters and many small sandwich dishes. They offer classic brunch dishes as well as some unique ones, such as fried chicken ramen (which I plan to try), from 7am as well. The service is always friendly. The place is clean, with many television screens for you to catch a game or watch the news. Great date night and friend catchup spot!

$19 fried chicken & waffle. The quality is worse than a fast food restaurant. Bad flour taste of the waffle. 2-3 OILY tiny size chicken with mostly fried batter…is worse than a McNugget. Gave 1 star is only because of the acceptable coffee. Will not return for the brunch/breakfast. Terrible!

Happy Hour is a must!Went here at 4:30pm for the Happy Hour that ends at 6pm. Had the unbelievable deal of 12 raw oysters on the half shell for $12 (regular $30). Their feature cocktail at $9 was also delicious and they had a good array of other shareable Happy Hour items that were better than your typical deep fried usuals like some sort of fries or chicken wings.Restaurant interior makes you feel like you’re on vacation and you’re in a typical hotel restaurant in the US. Being a bar and restaurant it can get pretty loud.We ordered a few dozen raw oysters on the half shell, the fish po boys and the chicken sliders. The oysters are small so non threatening for those slightly screamish about raw shellfish (my husband) and come with a light sauce plus lemon and Tabasco. Being small, the oysters are sweet and easy to come off the shell. The po boys were ok but the amount of deep fried fish you get is small. My husband said the chicken sliders were average.Honestly it’s the oysters at Happy Hour for this place. Almost everyone was getting them.We didn’t eat anything off the regular menu so I can only review the Happy Hour and say it’s great!

What a treat to have on Father's Day!Online I searched for a smash burger and unfortunately they couldn't provide...but it didn't ruin the experience. My southern chicken sandwich was amazing and my son did enjoy his burger. Great attentive service. And to top it off free pool! I will come back for the po boys and spiked southern tea

3/4 out of 5. The oyster buck a shuck during happy hour is a good deal and satisfies the craving! Other happy hour menu food was tasty - the corn dogs and Nashville hot chicken sliders.The service was subpar. The most greeting we got was when we entered and said we had a reservation. Our main server was not enthusiastic at all, asked how the day way, nor didn’t explain menu or any specials (happy hour). It was only until we asked what it was and asked to explain the food a little further, but other than that, short and unbothered responses.

Went there two days for lunch during my stay in the nearby hotel.The lady from HK is extremely friendly and always greet me with the loveliest and warmest smile .Will definitely visit again!Had burger one day and fish and chip on the other, both were good.Music selection was good, too. “Freebird” was playing , echoing the name of the restaurant, brilliant!

Nice place with ample seating. The menu is small which isn't a bad thing but I would have liked a few more options.The tavern burger was amazing and fries were great too. Our server was hilarious and really made us enjoy our stay. No diet pop options which was a negative as well (I think they were just out and usually do have diet pop)We ate here after a long travel day and left happy

We came here looking for breakfast. The reviews were good but because the restaurant was nearly empty and situated in rundown Executive hotel, we were skeptical. To our surprise after 10 minute our food was served to near perfection. The portions were grand. The chicken with waffles $24 both were crispy and flavorful, and oh the coleslaw was delightful. I could have eaten that as a salad entree if it were available. The Usual (breakfast plate) was equally good. We have been looking for a non assuming breakfast joint and here it is. Can't wait to try the $28 jumbolaya.They have oyster happy hour too!

Just a quick and satisfying happy hour stop.Had the buck-a-shuck oysters and some po’boys. Waitress was lovely and we got a table right away.Definitely will come back again
