It's a very nice place, the waves are stronger here than other viewpoints I've visited in Newfoundland.Although it may say it's closed, you can walk freely in the area, a must go if you're in St. John's or nearby. There's an alert about a siren that may sound anytime if there's a lot of fog. Also this is not the easternmost place of North America, but Canada. Greenland is still part of North America and that point will be in its eastern coast.

It's located near st. John's. It's the Easternmost point of North America. The parking here is free, you can avail the washroom and cafe until 6pm. The drive is very scenic overlooking the Atlantic and the hills adjacent to the road. The lookout is very scenic and has breathtaking panoramic views of the North Atlantic.

Cape Spear is the most easterly point in Canada and North America. Picture yourself here watching the sunrise, looking out across the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse is one of the oldest in St Johns. You can hike along the coast and view icebergs and watch whales feed along the coast.

Beautiful spot with fantastic views! Waking around is free but to get into the lighthouse you have to pay and have a guided tour. There are bathrooms and a giftshop and I heard one of the guides say they are in the process of putting in a little restaurant as well.

It wasn’t too crowded & it’s just 15-20 min from St. John’s. Also, it’s the ideal place if you want to watch the sunset! You can also see Signal Hill from there!

I visited twice during my time in St. John. It was very foggy weather, so both visits were brief, but enough time to walk the perimeter and take in the beauty of the landscape. Worth the drive.

A historical site by the ocean. It was a great place to walk around and learn about history of staring point of Canada. The light house was very nicely built on the rocks.

Make sure to go early the parking is limited up top, if you park in lower parking take the shortcut up but expect to sweat a bit if you are out of shape. The view is amazing , beautiful place and we saw a few whales in the distance. Well worth the visit

About half an hour from St. John’s, we drove out at around 4AM to catch the sunrise. We expected to stay for about an hour or so, but ended up staying for more than three hours, first enjoying the sunrise and then whale watching and basking in the beautiful scenery.Lots of trails to wander around and you’re almost guaranteed to see whales, especially if you happen to bump into a local who has a keen eye for it.History is abundant there and the cafe is also a must do!
