Jericho Counselling

I am so happy to have found this place! I was recommended to go here from a close friend. I see Rena and she has helped me so much already in a few sessions.

I've seen a therapist at Jericho for a number of years and have always felt supported in my journey. They are attentive, knowledgable and feel personally invested in my well-being. It's been such a safe space for me to do a lot of personal growing and I'm very grateful to them.

I was referred to Jericho by a trusted friend and I couldn't be more grateful for the experience I've had. Jericho has been there as a supportive, intuitive, compassionate and competent guide / coach through a number of challenging times. My experience has left me feeling understood, respected and supported and I've gained a lot more than I'd expected though the therapeutic relationship. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need.

I have contemplated on whether if I should leave a review of my experience from this place... one of the reasons is the stigma of admitting having professional assistance for mental health.To begin I did ask for a counsellor to be assigned to me in order to be able to claim the expense under my insurance. After submitting my claim and getting declined for it I realized they had booked me for a social worker instead. I was already a few sessions in and invested so I just kept going for the sessions out of pocket.I will be transparent and say I was not having a crisis or anything harmful to myself or anyone. I simply came to a point in my life where one thing happened after another and I needed someone to talk to. And yes, I was prepared to talk about my childhood (like you see in the movies all the time when they perform a counseling session) and possibly work on any residual issues from the past.The turning point was when I got stonewalled by this social worker in about the 5th session in, and you have to keep in mind I am already over $600 invested in this all together. I got stonewalled because it was recommended to me that I should see a physician and get myself on an antidepressant and I disagreed at that point. It was a very hurtful experience and I felt lied to and I felt like I was being forced to be medicated.I have found an actual counsellor elsewhere far far away from Jericho who was way more helpful and did not force me to do anything I did not want to. And when I hear the radio commercials for Jericho come on I think to myself of course they would brag about their results" when they force their patients to medicate. Shameful."
