My mother moved into Sunrise when the assisted living care home she was in could no longer provide all the assistance she needed. She had reached the stage where she needed help with taking her medication, getting to and from the bathroom, showering, getting dressed, and getting to and from the dining room. The staff at Sunrise immediately made her feel like they all knew and cared for her, and we were able to have peace of mind knowing that she was being well looked after, and that trained nurses were monitoring her condition and letting us know how she was doing. I would highly recommend Sunrise to anyone looking for a care home for their elders.

Although the cost is prohibitive, it is justified in the quality of care my mother receives. The number of staff they have contributes to the cost but is also why she receives this high quality of care . As we have no family near Vancouver, I am happy I can rest assured of the care she is receiving. i receive timely updates, am informed of all changes or possible problems and i have regular Facetime appointments set up by staff. Well done.

Our team has been working alongside the team at Sunrise of Vancouver for 9 years! From the moment you walk in the door, their staff make you feel welcome and part of the Sunrise family. We value our relationship with the entire team and residents of Sunrise. For anyone who is considering a move to LTC, I highly recommend Sunrise of Vancouver!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and facility of Sunrise of Vancouver. My Mom lived there for 3 years (June 2018-May 2021) while we waited for a subsidized bed. During that time, Barb and the rest of the Sunrise staff took care of Mom and our family through the difficult transition. Mom was diagnosed with dementia in 2017 and steadily worsened to the point that she needed to be in a care facility. We’d had another family member stay at Sunrise a decade prior so it was an easy decision to move Mom there. We were given help and support at every turn, regardless of whether it was moving Mom there in the first place; moving rooms during her residency (as Mom needed to go from an independent floor to the Memory Care floor); updating her care plan with various medication and care needs; or just keeping us informed each week of any changes they observed. We were always greeted with a warm smile and a friendly face upon entry. Anita was the first person Mom met and because Anita spoke Indonesian, Mom immediately felt relaxed and comfortable despite the new sights and sounds. That really made the initial moving day easier. After Mom was settled, we’d visit often and joined her for meals — the food was always excellent, along with the amenities, group activities, and outings that took place each week! Holidays were always celebrated with beautiful and tasteful decorations — Christmas and Canada Day were always a favourite! It was a very safe and nurturing environment, which is especially important for those with dementia. It was a hard enough decision to move Mom out of a life and home that she’d known all her life, but her living at Sunrise gave us peace of mind and really was the best thing for her. To this day, her dementia continues to worsen but she still remembers “my room on the third floor” that had a lovely view. And even now, when I go to Sunrise to visit other patients (my job is mobile physio), the staff still ask how Mom is doing even though she moved out nearly 2 years ago.At Sunrise, the staff treat you like family and I thank them for everything they did for us. ❤️

As a longtime visitor to a dear friend, I have had ample opportunity to witness how Sunrise of Vancouver staff consistently offer each resident a community of kindness, consideration, skilled competence, and genuine affection. The other aspects of Sunrise—accommodation, the menu offerings, communal spaces, and activity programs all reflect this respectful environment. Brava!

Moving mom into Sunrise was an incredible challenge as she was not a willing participant. Everyday was an uphill battle that we feared had no end. When I look back now I can’t believe we ever had a hard time because now she’s loving it. I can’t thank staff enough for the big things they do to care for mom but also the little things, like braid her long hair, that mean so much to us. Her disease has progressed to the point she sometimes doesn’t recognize us and doesn’t know who her friends are but I am comforted knowing that everyday mom is treated with kindness & respect.I cannot thank the staff at Sunrise enough

The experience at Sunrise has been amazing. The staff is wonderful, especially Rosie ( Sales associate) and Kim ( RN). As this has been a very difficult time for our family, both of these ladies have made it so much easier for us. They are both such caring people. It’s such a good feeling to know that my aunt & uncle are going to be living here.

My mother has been living at Sunrise on the reminiscence floor for over 5 years. At the start, it was a huge adjustment with massive resistance after having been so independent in her own house for 50 years. Moving her to a home and at this level of care was big and a huge unknown. The staff at Sunrise in all departments being so genuine, whole-hearted and compassionate, made the transition smooth and a regular part of life, not a dreading life-altering experience which I was afraid it could be. As she settled in, it became a loving and fun environment for mom and she is now able to enjoy her life and be happy. Her caregivers are wonderful, the programmers -- cheery and thoughtful, medical staff -- caring and supportive, admin & support staff are all a part of the family. The care, compassion and love that creates a warm and loving home has been 'life-saving' for mom as she can now be carefree and at peace before her next journey. The facility is efficiently managed and is run like an extended-family multi-faceted machine lubricated in genuine care and connection. How they managed the pandemic was honestly and absolutely impressive....for that kind of unknown and magnitude of a situation the world was dealing with, I never had a doubt that all and mom's welfare was being looked after responsibly. I am so grateful for my mom's experience and the new family that our family now has. I hope to be as fortunate as mom in my senior years!
