This place will be open from mid June to Labour Day, there will be no winter maintenance. There is a bus stop near by bus no 415 you need to take in case you want to come here by bus. There is a good place to walk with your dogs, family and friends. There are some tunnels and cannon. The scenic view is beautiful from top lots of water and when the Sun-rays kisses the water it shines like diamond. The trail is not big hardly 2-3 km. It will end on the Navel school from one side and you need to take the same route to come back. Someone also told us there is a place where to teaches you how to burn campfire.

Calm place to visit. Not too crowded. Great historical landmark that is near Melville Cove which also has a historical past.

I wish the map on the inside showed where everything was. Was trying to find the forts to show a friend but I got lost instead. Really cool canons and interesting history. Was curious if they still fire some of the canons off? When you find the forts you’re in the hotspot there is a lot of graffiti and a beautiful look off

Really cool and interesting historical site with many information tables to let you know about the history of the location and uses of the building. Lots of open space and a beautiful view if the Harbour. I don't think there's any bathrooms though so beware of that before planning your trip put as it is about a half hour drive away from town. There are garbage cans and benches though

There is a bus stop but not sure how frequent it comes, so driving might be recommended especially off-season. Lots of interesting buildings and cannons to see. Also plenty of interpretive plaques for a self guided tour.

Open area fort good for walking and taking in a self guided tour. Cannons overlooking the ocean and old building structures.

One of the best place to visit in Halifax. It’s located 20 mins drive from Halifax downtown and can be also accessible via Halifax transit. The transit buses runs on for few hours in day, so plan your trip accordingly. It’s UNESCO world heritage site. They do have lots of cannon aiming towards oceans. You can see Halifax from one side of park. It can get pretty windy lot faster than you expect.

This place is so cool. It’s honestly now one of my favourite places to walk around In Halifax. Very cool to see all the old war architecture but also a great place if you just want to go for a hike as there are several trails ! And you can go right down by the water. Usually not very many people there so can hang out by yourself and it’s pretty quiet. 10/10 recommend

The citadel has nothing on this fort. It’s massive, you can explore wherever you want (for the most part), loads of space, many Geocaches in the area, etc. if you want Cannons…. This is the place for you. Old walls made of iron stone… yep. Highly recommend.
