Mohawk Chapel
The oldest church in Ontario and of significance both historically and culturally. One of the few royal chapels outside of the uk. The large free car park is conveniently located and is wheelchair accessible. The graves are well-maintained and obviously effort and care has been put into honouring the dead (who include the significant figures of Joseph Brant and his son). Built in 1785 and well-maintained.

Could not get close as there is temporary fencing all around the church grounds.Great history here. Joseph Brant who was instrumental in assisting the British in The War of 1812 is interred here.

In my experience, is definitely worth taking the time to see and carefully listening to their knowledgeable guide's thorough explanation about the fascinating history of this place.

Wonderful to visit the 4th oldest building in Canada. A little sad to see it clad in plastic ie: vinyl siding and roof tiles.

The chapel itself seemed to be closed to the public, there were private property" signs preventing from going right up to the property. There was no physical barricades

I was looking forward to this visit. Mohawk Chapel is apparently one of 3 Royal Chapels in Canada and the first church built in what is now Ontario. It has a fascinating history, so check out the website. I would have loved to see more of the church, but unfortunately it is being renovated. If you plan on attending at the time of this review, you can only look at the church from a distance, which means not walking the grounds, inside of the church, or seeing the grave of Joseph Brant up close. You can see it from a distance.
