Henderson Recreation Centre

It's a small rec centre with a nice and clean training area, indoor gymnasium and all the facilities. / Now, my fun is outside. They have about 6 (or 8?) tennis courts, a small golf course and a lovely walking trail with exercising machines all along. When you walk on this trail, you'll probably make some very nice encounters (rabbits, birds, deer, squirrels) and see some beautiful trees and plants.

9 hole course was unplayably slow and they refused to provide a day pass in lieu of a refund when we left after the 2nd hole (three groups waiting ahead and three behind).It's unfortunate they don't stagger tee times because the course is lovely but mismanaged.

Staff can be a hit or miss. We showed up late to our Covid tee time. There were empty slots before us and after us. The manager was quite adamant to come out and tell us that we were late and unfortunately she would not be allowing us to tee time. She gave us no options other then, “ you aren’t playing, please leave”. FORTUNATELY the front counter staff overheard our conversation and provided a solution! Go figure, a Clerk provided better costumer service and professionalism then her manager by identifying the problem and providing solutions. When i asked to speak to a manager to give the positive feedback forfor moving our tee time by 45 mins! That was so simple. It solved the whole issue and left all party’s satisfied. Its quite shocking that the manager did not communicate and provide alternative options like the front counter staff.Great course, played it for over 20 years. Just wish management was a little more professional and considerate like the front desk staff.

I come for the gym, so can’t comment on any of their other stuff. Fairly small but has all the necessities for a good workout. Plenty of cardio equipment. 4 benches, one squat rack, cables and a stretching room. I love that it’s usually super quiet and it’s not full of gym bros like the Oak Bay rec centre. The receptionists are always super friendly and helpful. My suggestions would be to add a second squat rack as that is the one piece of equipment that depending on time of day you may have to wait for. Some glute bands would be great for us girlies, and inexpensive to purchase. And a GHD (glute ham developer) would be a fantastic addition for developing the posterior chain. Only big con in comparison to the other rec centres is that there is no pool or sauna/hot tub. So sometimes I end up choosing a different rec centre when I want to get some hot tub time post workout

Go to spin class. So to strength. Don't sit around thinking about going. Just do it! Very reasonable prices, free parking, great instructors - what else could you want! PS Take Leslie's classes. She's awesome :0)

I highly recommend Henderson's 9 hole pitch and putt. I went with a group of friends last weekend, our skill level ranging from beginner to advanced and we all had a good time. It is only $10 per person and took us about 2hrs, we did have a group of 8 people (split into 2 groups). You can rent clubs and balls, but I recommend bringing your own if you have them. My husband and I shared clubs and it was fine.Keep in mind it's only $10, so the course is not in pristine condition.

A nice community centre with plenty of activities. The scenery is great and the deer too.

I went to a kids birthday party there and can't say enough about how good the experience was. The staff set up the party room for you while your kids are playing in the gym. All you have to do is show up with the food and snacks. After and hour of play in the gym, the kids are ushered into the party room and are served the food by the staff. Them they help you pack everything up! It's really stress free for the parents and gives them ample time to socialize and enjoy their kids day. Highly recommend if you're looking to host a party.
