This company is really responsible for landlord and tenant, Deborah can handle everything in the house even any tiny issue, and she is a really warm-hearted person who always help clients all her best. Really appreciate what she’s done.

We have several residential real estate properties and have been the clients of Halifax Quality Homes since 2013. We have absolutely loved the assistance we get in renting our properties with HQH; they prepare the listing, help us determine the optimal market rate, show the property, and screen all potential candidates including providing credit and reference checks, and then prepare the lease for us. The end result is that the calibre of tenant in our homes has improved dramatically and the rental process has had all stress taken out of it.Every member of the HQH teams is professional, kind, and they genuinely care about what type of tenant we would prefer for each of our properties and make sure that they only present us with tenant options that are a good fit. I have also been consistently been impressed with the responsiveness of their team when I have questions or have a new listing and I am impressed at how they prepare new fixed term leases each year for tenants who decide to renew and they do this as a complementary service.I would highly recommend HQH for all your rental needs!

After living in a beautiful home managed by Halifax Quality Homes for three years, we have nothing but great things to say about them! Any concern that came up was dealt with right away and we never had any difficulty getting hold of them or our handyman. On the day of our move last month we were running behind and Deborah even stayed until after 11:30 at night to help ensure we were able to get on the road (very sad to leave but we were moving across the country for work)! She was fantastic and we couldn’t have done it without her. We highly recommend this company if you’re looking for a place to live in Halifax that is a home - not just a place to live!

Very unprofessional organization.They fool their heads with the transfer of the application from one realtor to the second. Pulling time and not responding to letters. As a result, the ad from the site disappeared. The realtor never answered whether we approached or did not come up, well, it is clear that they did not come up if we were not handed over the house.

I’m reposting this review because I had to delete my other Google account but need to ensure that prospective renters do not miss this review.This company is so unprofessional that I got sick of looking for a place to rent and I am now the proud owner of a home.They were sloppy from the very first showing all the way through the lease execution. They neither have the tenants nor the landlords interests at heart, and do not clean between tenants. If anything, they exist to impose unreasonable conditions that protect only the landlord and do not operate in good faith. The only part they do reliably is credit and reference checks. Their sloppiness cost the landlord a month of rent, and us a lot of time, energy where we lived days wondering if we would have a place to stay.1. Showing - at the time of the showing, the leasing agent Sue Belliveau failed to make appointments with the building to show us the amenities. She also failed to mention that the parking space does not accommodate all types of cars, something we learnt while discussing lease terms. In addition, she was condescending and presumptuous and made statements that suggested that certain rental prices were beyond our means, although she had no idea of how much we actually earned.2. Also related to the showing, something that struck us was how candid she was about the property remaining unrented for months, about how hard she’d tried to convince the landlord to lower the prices but the landlord just wouldn’t budge. It seems very strange that the property management company paints the landlord and the property and the inability to attract a tenant in such a poor light, that tenants might actually be tempted to make low offers. I feel bad for the landlords they represent, because this company is lowering any bargaining power they have.3. Application approvals - They took a week to approve the application. When they finally did so, they neglected to incorporate our application conditions about ensuring the place was cleaned after the previous tenant moved out. The only bright side is that they seemed thorough with their reference checks and I know they called everyone I had listed as a reference and asking pretty detailed questions.4. Lease execution - Although we specifically asked Donna to send us a draft for review if the landlord was adding special conditions, they did not send us a draft until 3 days before the tentative move in date. At this point, not only did we realise the landlord had incorporated special conditions we hadn’t agreed to, they had also ignored all the conditions we had made on the application that held the landlord or property manager responsible for handing the property and its appliances to us in a clean state. When we wrote back revisions we needed, they had sneakily included clauses that made them the arbiter of what constituted clean, they simply refused to hold themselves responsible for handing over the property to us in clean condition. It became very evident to us that this company wants to earn a fee for property management without actually maintaining the property. They simply do not clean after a tenant moves out, expect the previous tenant to bear that responsibility trusting that they will do it. The biggest red flag is that they attempt to hold the tenant to standards (and charge them for violation) that they do not want to hold themselves accountable for at the time the property is handed over. I shudder to think of how they approach repairs.5. Monetary Loss - On the date of move in, the company had still not responded to us or confirmed with us if we were proceeding. They eventually responded letting us know we could either sign it as it was (they can charge tenants for properties left unclean but do not take responsibility for handing over a clean place) or we could withdraw our application. As a result, we went ahead with another accommodation and the landlord potentially lost out on a month of rent simply because they refused to take responsibility for handing over a clean property to us.

I have been using Halifax Quality Homes to manage my property for almost 5 years. As I live abroad, I sometimes need a lot of support. They have been extremely reliable and professional and have gone out of their way to help me. Even with a 7 hour time difference, they always responded to any questions I have in a timely way. They have an excellent network of contractors and professionals to help undertake any work needed on my condo. They have always secured excellent tenants for me and kept me informed throughout the rental process. I wouldn't go anywhere else for property management!

No one gets back to you.They post a property in a family neighborhood with schools walking distance, but they don't want many occupants in the home, no pets, perfect credit, large income. They want single people renting these homes in family neighborhoods. Don't you think if a couple had perfect income and made lots of money they'd have their own mortgage?! That's why the properties with this company sit on Kijiji for 6 months at a time.

I highly recommend HQH. We worked we equimax last year, they brought us a lawyer who moved with his wife from Ireland and kids, they did not check any reference. While we were not comfortable but we risked renting. When we started having issues with tenant not paying rent I called ref and all phone were not working, equimax did not return calls or from start they did not make sure contract or ref checks are valid. We ended up with a horrible experience where you think a lawyer of a country is more professional. They damaged the house, garage door, left the home filthy… We reached out it to Sue for help when tenant decided to leave, and Sue replaced our tenant. Sue process seems too much but it is to the benefit of landlord. I say the reviews here are for tenants who got rejected applications but tough luck to those rejected.

We rented out our home through Halifax Quality homes while we lived overseas for 6 years. When we returned it looked like the day we left it. Deborah, Colin and team were very professional and gave us piece of mind that our home was well cared for while we were away. I couldn’t recommend them more if you are looking to rent your property.

Halifax Quality Homes managed my property for one year. They found an excellent tenant within days of signing with them. The rep assigned to my property was Deborah McNair. She was very responsive to any of my enquiries, extremely professional and knowledgeable. The service she provided far exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to contract HQH and Deborah to manage my property in the future.
