Hertz Car Rental - Vancouver - 1270 Granville Street HLE

Extremely disappointed by the unethical sales reps here. We clearly mentioned we have our own insurance and hence did not need to purchase additional insurance. However, the sales rep stated that the car without insurance would be more expensive. He also claimed that they had a better package deal with insurance for a cheaper price. But on the invoice, we were charged an additional 35 for insurance. Not impressed. Stay away!

The location does not even have a phone number that they actually answer. Their listed number just re-directs you back to the general line, which was unable to help me solving an issue with my rental. They just kept re-directing me to contact the local office, which is clearly not even possible.Staff were not really friendly or helpful. The location was unable to help with extremely simple tasks, such as providing a receipt for the rental.At least the car was really nice, and essentially brand new. The location is also not that busy, so service times were generally very quick.

I made a same-day reservation with Expedia and visited to rent a car, but the female manager did not try to check the information about the reservation stored on my cell phone, and was unfriendly and did not try to deal with any situation. It's a small company

Horrendous location. Set our pick up time for 8 AM and no one showed up until after 9. When he showed up, he proclaimed “this isn’t even my location”. No remorse. No empathy for the dozen people they kept waiting.It ruined our day trip plans. AVOID THIS LOCATION AND BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS. THERE ARE BETTER OPTIONS.

Worst rental experience ever! Ali and Jazz are the worst customer representative a company can have. As soon as I came in, there was not a welcoming atmosphere and they did not even greet. I stood in line waiting to be served and Ali asked me with a dry tone Do you have a Reservation? Which I rapidly answered yes". I reside in Canada as a permanent resident but I have not been able to get my driver license yet. I do still have my ID driver license from back home which is legal in Vancouver to be driving with it. So

Stunned by the experience I just had here. Had a pickup for 4:00pm. The doors were already locked at 3:50. Two employees stood behind the counter and watched me motion to be let in given my pickup. They ignored me, turned off the lights and assumed I’d leave. I started putting my phone to the locked glass door, to show them my reservation, and they eventually came over and looked at it together through the glass. I was not being let in. They motioned to me to show it again, motioned to scroll down, started saying things to me I obviously could not understand given they were on the other side of the glass. I just kept motioning I don’t know what you’re saying, please open the door so I can understand you.They eventually pointed me to the date of the reservation. I had accidentally booked it for the wrong weekend. You’d think the obvious thing to do here is open the door and tell me this, but it stayed locked. Human decency?The even more obvious thing to do would be to open the door, with ten minutes remaining until close, and help me book a car for this weekend, given I clearly have a need for one, and you don’t often see a business turn down business. I would have paid for another.They walked away, leaving me absolutely stunned and closed the staff door so I couldn’t see them anymore.I’ve come to this rental place many times, this was one of the most ridiculous customer service experiences I’ve ever had.

DO NOT RENT HERE AT ALL COSTS!!! My bill ended up being more than double what was quoted and don’t get me started at the poor customer service.First of all, I booked the car for 4pm pickup on Thursday June 21st. I looked on google at the stores hours and it said they were open till 4:30pm. I showed up about 4:20 and the store was closed with different hours on the door. I knocked on the window to get someone’s attention and they basically ignored me and walked to the back.I returned the next morning at 8am, needing to pick up the car as I needed to drive to Kelowna for work. A customer was ahead of me in line, there was another woman worker there who took her sweet time to help me. Not exaggerating, she walked back and forth slowly between wall to wall to trying to get the lighting right to her needs, walking back and forth playing with the light switches. This took 5 mins.She then asked for my reservation. I told her about not being able to pick the car up the day before. She then started speaking to me her condescendingly and essentially felt as if she was trying to punish me for not picking up the car on time, when again the hours said online that they were open till 4:30pm. She told me that the car I never picked up the day before was no longer available and they only had a Tesla left but it would $40 more per day. I thought this was fishy, considering I just missed there closing time and arrived first thing in the morning. I argued and she didn’t budge. I looked at my other rental options, which were pretty much nil at this point and had to take the Tesla, which I did not want because I didn’t know how to charge etc.Being annoyed at this point, I mentioned how bad of reviews they have online about this store. She then all the sudden started treating me with a little respect.I asked about charging it and they told me it was fully charged and I would make it to Kelowna no problem. They wrote 99% charged on the form, yet did not go down with me to do a walk through of the vehicle. I got it and it was 83% charged.By the end of it all, what was suppose to be a $160 reservation through Expedia ended up being billed at $340 ($100 more than the new rental agreement). They also didn’t provide me with a final bill as to why. I called Hertz customer service and all they did was offer me a voucher…. Would never give this company my money again. Shady from top to bottom.

I have a fairly decent experience renting from this Hertz location last week. I picked up and returned my car with no issue, received what I reserved, and Jas at the counter was helpful about coverages and condition of my rental car.My rental car was in decent shape (some scratches which I was informed as normal wear & tear), 2022 model, and moderate mileage.I am used to quick rental pickup and servicing at US airport locations, and this location was able to provide similar service level (although in a slightly less speedy fashion). Overall I would rent from this location again.I do concur with other reviews that the phone number for this branch does not connect to actual representatives. I had to call general Hertz helpdesk to make adjustments to my reservation.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS AGENCY OR LOCATION. Our car rental reservation was not honoured even though the FULL PRICE of the rental was charged by Hertz prior to us picking up the car. The two women at the front desk were very rude and said that our reservation was not honoured because we didn’t come at the exact time the reservation was made for. We left Hertz and read their terms and conditions. They should’ve kept the car for us until closing time on that day. We got kicked out of the agency with no car for the weekend of day trips we had planned from Vancouver. There was no sympathy or explanation for us despite being from out of town and having just arrived on a flight that day.

Worst experience in a while. Even though on the web page there were plenty of options to book (at a very good price), the lady on the front desk who was working on Tuesday March 14th at around 10am said they had absolutely nothing available. Then, she proceeded to give us the card of another local rental place where she was obviously taking a commission from. We told her we didn't want to go with a local company since we weren't comfortable sharing our cards details with a company we weren't familiar with and yet she insisted she wasn't going to give us a car at Hertz. We debated whether booking it through the website but since we didn't want to deal with her whenever we had to pick it up we ended up deciding to go with another company considerably more expensive...Hertz should check who they have working for them; they are currently losing customers!!!
