Nothing beats hitting up one of the main Grand Forks hometown staples! Great location near downtown and university campus. Parking is along both sides of university; there isn't a parking lot or set area for parking. The atmosphere is fun, energetic, definitely a college/high school vibe restaurant that is open late at night to accommodate the night life. Grinders, tacos, taco burgers, corn dogs, chicken tortilla soup, chips/sauce, cheese tostada's to just name a few good choices! Make sure to bring a PERMANENT marker if you want to leave your mark ANYWHERE inside

I have a special place for RP in my heart and have eaten here for years. Only reason I'm leaving a 3 star review is because there is room for improvement here. Even though it is slightly negative review , all reviews and feedback are good, how else would we know where we need to improve?This past year I developed an autoimmune condition so I have a sensitivity to gluten and certain spices. I can still have some in small amounts however it's risky. That being said if you have a gluten sensitivity or celiacs etc you may want to avoid this place unless you are getting the soup. If you have a sensitivity to seasonings or peppers avoid the soup and hot sauce completely.I got a few hard shell tacos very lite hotsauce and chips and sauce. When I got home the tacos were soggy drenched with hot sauce and the chip sauce did not taste right and wasn't very chunky, it looked as though it had not been mixed well and was the bottom of the batch very watery and missing the sweetness . Basicly tomato water.I understand food will not be perfect every time and who makes the food can very so I understand and tried to eat it anyways and got very sick. When I called the store to tell them my order was not any good the manager was very short with me and took my experience personally. your taste buds must be off i make the sauce myself " okay..... well my boyfriend and I both tried it and it was not the quality that we normally received

Fast, friendly service! Reasonable prices and very iconic. My go-to jam is the Combo Enchilada, 2 tacos (or Schneiders!) and a soda. Oh yeah, and they always have a good radio station on.

I'm from Maryland but my wife's from grand forks MN and went up to visit family and she suggested I try this place. OMG I'd go there everyday if we had this around Maryland. The tacos were so simple but ooh so flavorful. Anyone that is around this area must go to the original red pepper.. my wife even made us bring home their white and red sauce 4oz containers . If you want some old taco bell prices but with much better than any Mexican restaurant tacos you must go there. You won't regret it. I just wish I could of got their recipe to what's in their taco meat.. So freaking good

Original Red Pepper gives off a college student hangout spot vibe. It's casual and laid back. The food is cheap and great. What they lack in variety, they make up for in quality. They have Grinders, hard tacos, soft tacos, taco salad, regular salad, and chips with cheese. It's a great spot if you are looking for great food and a cheap price. If you come here, bring a marker. They let you write on the bricks in the wall (I think. There's lots of names on the walls here.)
