Beware Manhattan Tower owners. I knew there was something shady at first. But these reviews confirm my suspicion. Get it done elsewhere at half the cost.update: For Building Envelope (BE) rehabilitation, we ended up getting a quote from BCBS. RDH quoted $11.5-14m while BCBS quoted us $3.6-4.5m. That's a savings of 68-69%. While I don't discredit the quality or scope of RDH's work, the choice to us is obvious. BCBS currently has a rating of 4.6 stars (32 reviews) while RDH has a rating of 3.6 stars (33 reviews). Feel free to contact me if you want a copy of these BE condition reports.

In the world of building envelope and energy modeling and management there is no better firm than RDH! I've partnered with them in more than ten projects, and they would be my top choice for the next ten.In light of the poor reviews, and accusations of good reviews being by employees, I want to add detail. I worked at SFU, Burnaby campus, for 7 years. My responsibility in part was building leaks.RDH was invaluable in working with us at facility services for us to understand the problems, to produce remedies, and to plan strategic capital repair.Some people may not understand total cost of ownership and the value of good consultants and construction management.They are the ones who would leave poor reviews such as those below.

RDH is the best company to work with for your building rehab! They are a team of professionals (Jason Dunn being our main contact), and good communicators who are always available to not only provide design guidance but also navigating the labyrinth of the City of Vancouver Planning Dept.Our strata counted on them to ensure the contractor stayed within budget, and that the work was done right the first time. The building is safe and secure.The project did cost more in the end, and the strata prepared for given our 1982 building was poorly designed/constructed so there were many surprises uncovered. On behalf of the owners, I’d like to thank RDH for their professional work as consultants and for the construction management process for our strata exterior remediation repair project.In 2021, before the repair project started, Jason Dunn (Project Manager) and his team provided a professional assessment/design report to owners and a detailed budget forecast for owners to review and discuss.During the repair project, we received construction management's weekly site review report against the contractor’s repair work informing owners of the progress of the repair and any findings of issues to be corrected. The process of each step of the repair work was completely transparent.RDH held a monthly budget review meeting with council to review the budget and monitor if any issues may be causing the project to exceed the budget.Because of the in-depth and professional construction management in possession, this helped to find out some issues caused by the developer and we were able to fix the issue at the early stage. Without this construction management process in place, the developer deficiencies would have gone unnoticed.We were able to finish the repair project on time as scheduled (from 2022 February to the end of September 2022) and also within the budget. Without RDH’s professional consultants, and construction management process in place, our project would not be so successful.Once again, thanks to Jason Dunn, and his professional team. Well done. Our strata, known as 888 Beach, has been working with RDH Building Science Inc. since 2010. The strata consists of 259 units with 3 towers, 26 townhouses and 4 commercial units. Our complex covers a full city block.Over the years we have engaged RDH for the preparation of condition assessment reports, engineering services, construction management on three large projects, the preparation of depreciation reports and ongoing review and assistance with building issues as they arise.All of the RDH personnel take time to describe problems, whether they be small or large, by providing photos of areas where work is required. They clearly outline the proposed solutions for the strata council and for the owners at information meetings. Their presentations to owners are well organized and they handle all of the questions posed to them in a calm, professional manner.Our strata is currently undertaking the 2nd phase of a podium renewal project. The 1st phase was well managed by the construction management team and it was completed ahead of time and under budget. The owners are kept informed of construction noise and special issues by weekly bulletins. As a Senior Property Manager I have been working with RDH for 16 years on multiple projects, for several buildings. I always found RDH very professional, easy to deal with and extremely knowledgeable. They are always happy to attend general meetings and information sessions to explain the projects in details, and to answer the owners' questions. They are always available during and even after project completion should owners have any remaining concerns.

Our Strata contracted with RDH for the design and construction management for a much needed building envelope, roof, balcony, and window replacement project. This huge undertaking was managed professionally and with excellent communication between our project manager Jason Dunn and ourselves. The project required a few changes as unexpected deficiencies were found during the demolition phase, but taking those into account the project was completed on-budget and within the expected timeline. I would happily work with RDH again in the future and recommend them to other strata corporations undertaking similar work.
