The Borscht Bowl
Big Perogies and borscht were really, really good. We did take out. The Perogies are bigger than normal so they cost more which seemed fine however once we got 8 at $6 each it wasn't so good. Really yummy though just a lot for Perogies being an avid perogy girl from Winnipeg.

W.O.W! This place is better then any borscht I've ever had. Sorry to my grandmother who almost raised me on it.Worth driving from Vancouver to here just for this place alone! If you are passing through this place should be on the must stop list.

I've been coming to this place for years. It's a small family run store that always welcomes you with a smile. If it's your first time trying Russian food I'd recommend the seasonal combo or special. The special comes with 2 awesome meat filled voreniki and a bowl of their signature borscht, and the combo has both a voreniki and a delicious pyrahi to go with the bowl of borscht. For the vegetarians, you can be at ease as the borscht is just vegetables, and the voreniki comes in potato and cottage cheese options. The pyrahi comes in many, many flavours, but my favorites are cottage cheese, pumpkin, beet, and sauerkraut. If you want the full flavor experience, I'd ask for some cayenne pepper to go on your borscht, but be careful, it gets spicy quickly!

Food was very good (homemade, tasty), but it's a bit pricey for lunch.

There were lots of great reviews for this restaurant so we stopped in on our travels. The borscht was very good. It was accompanied with buttered bread and one cucumber slice. I'm glad we stopped in but would have liked a little more on the plate for the price.

Nice place. Great waitress. My wife asked for no dairy said I'm vegan so cook puts cheese on her food. When we pointed it out waitress apologized but the cook came out madder saying we should let people know they are vegan so they don't waste food. Waitress said she told her. For that we are not going back

Nice place, but due to pandemic, we were seated outside anyways. Based on the sizes of dishes and ingredients, I would say it is a little bit overpriced. I guess they charge higher price for authentic experience. Overall, the food was good. I have Russian background so I guess I can be quite objective on this matter.

As they say, good food takes time and at th Borscht Bowl you should prepare to wait, and is it ever worth it! You won't find many places serving food like here. Traditional Doukhobor food is vegetarian but often heavy on the dairy and baked goods. The borscht is not the beet-heavy Ukrainian classic, but is loaded with cabbage, tomatoes and a good dollop of cream, making it more orange then red. Did I mention the dill? Never forget the dill

The Borscht Bowl is about as authentic as you can get when it comes to Borchst and other Doukhobor specialities like pyrahi. We tried a delicious bowl of the soup, and a freshly made pyrahiwhich is a pastry filled with vegetables (in my case, potatoes) and topped with butter and sour cream. I was in heaven! Service was quick, and the atmosphere was homey.
