Harvest Bible Chapel - Church

Harvest has been a positive influence in Barrie. They even decided to pay the cost to let my son attend camp one winter when I couldn't afford it, which was very cool! (Just to clarify, I myself am not and haven't been a member at Harvest.)The pastor had a thoughtful approach toward steering his congregation safely through the pandemic, at a time when some Barrie churches were chomping at the bit to reopen. He and his team should be commended for showing discernment during a year that required a great deal of it.They have a parent church in Chicago, and have to affirm to their values statement to receive funding. (EDIT: I'm wrong. They're now an Acts 29 church. Whoops, my bad!) They have a complementarian stance, which means women are not allowed to pastor, and they have a typical evangelical stance toward the LGBT community. This is an unenviable balancing act, because— here in Canada— the younger Millennial and Gen Z Christians largely side with the public on these issues. To that demographic, It's a bit of a deal-breaker.

We walked through the doors of this church building almost 6 years ago and have always been thankful we did. This is a place where the Bible is open and taught from. Where uncommon community happens. Where you are not alone in the walk you are walking.

Great connections. Great sermons. Great people

We where looking for a church that my family could get to know the Lord and walk with each and every day .Not only did we get to know the Lord Jesus Christ but we get to walk and fellowship with other Christians in small group and the church put on many different activities for men and women and for children that support family togetherness I’m proud to say Harvest is my home church.

This church has brought me back to life.The teaching are incredible easy to understand. The people the eldes are so kind and loving sharing the lords word.Not to mention are great worship band.It's even got my husband thinking and this is a dream to me.

Great teaching/preaching of God's word, good worship and real people who care with Christ's love. They don't go because they think they're perfect they go because they know they aren't.Edit: Have to say they're losing focus. There are only a handful of seniors left - the pillars of the church. The worship sadly has become more of a performance than a path. (They were going to hire a production manager"!?! ...instead of focusing on their God given commercial kitchen and miraculous location between Barrie's homeless tent city and the food bank - they are squandering this mission at their doorstep!) There is very little transparency in their budget. Leadership is top down with no women on the Elder's board

We've been coming to Harvest for about 9 years. We had originally gone to a Gospel Hall brethren church. When we left there, we wanted to make sure the church we would serve alongside had strong biblical teaching and unapologetic preaching that was rooted in the truth of God's word. This is what we found at Harvest. Although it's MUCH larger (about 700-800) than our old church family (it was only about 50), there is still a deep care and love for the people at Harvest. There is a real sense of community and mission here.

So Many Wonderful experiences. Both my wife and I were extremely impressed with the team at Harvest. They truly care for each of their community members like they are family. It was our son who brought us to experience Harvest and we are so glad he did.
