Colborne Lodge

This is a historic building set in the Victorian era. If you like that sort of thing, they do pursue the theme to the enth degree. All volunteers are dressed in period clothing and are more than happy to explain the history of the site, life in the time, and the struggles early Toronto life brought.Situated in High Park, there are tons of picnic spots, lush foliage and greenery, interesting historic spots (including the grave of one of Toronto's early city planners) right in and around the site. A full day of activity awaits!

The tour of this historic house was fascinating, and shared many interesting stories about the Howards (who gave the land of High Park to the city for making a public park) and about 19th century Toronto.

Great historical space in Toronto attached to a fantastic park founded by the building owner, Not Colbourne but John G. Howard. Must visit location. Take the walk.

The Colborne Lodge is currently (spring 2023) closed for renovation, but some of the art and artefacts from the main building are on display in the Coach House located right next to it. Come to see old maps, paintings, drawings and photographs showing the history of High Park and Toronto. The place is free to visit and there is very knowledgeable and welcoming staff who will tell you fascinating stories and answer questions about the area and family who owned the land which they donated to the city to turn it into a park accessible to everyone. The Coach House is open Wednesday to Sunday: 11am-4pm. Public washroom inside. During school breaks there are some activities organized for children. a wonderful little historic site that takes us back to the city's early days. Drop by and warm up while looking at the exhibit. Free to visit during May, which is Museum Month. You must show your City of Toronto public library card.

Small tour, but worth it. Important fact: High Park is dry! Wow... who knew?

A very educational and immersive experience. Great for kids and anyone who is interested. The tour guides were great and the tour groups are just a few people or you and whoever else is there.
