Edit: Changed to a one star review due to OISE employees rating their own workplace. This is extremely biased and against google's terms of service. Have you no shame or integrity? Why aren't any professors standing up for ethics and transparency? At OISE there are many kind well-rounded professors who care about their students. Unfortunately, entrenched elitism and ideological purity prevent them implementing more effective, fair and balanced practices.OISE promotes itself as being a morally superior leader in indigenous issues, disability rights, anti-racism, etc., while siphoning away precious resources that should be going directly to the people OISE wants to help.Several profs only taught for a handful of years/ not at all before joining academia. They have no idea about the issues teachers face on a daily basis. Their lack of day-to-day knowledge of classroom life leads to odd and sometimes dangerous suggestions. It doesn't help that some profs. engage in myopic and dubious research practices, so they never learn about their biases and blind spots.OISE told the Ontario Human Rights Council that in their literacy course The first five weeks... are dedicated to understanding the role of word-reading in reading development

I love the convenience of this building for my University of Toronto studies. Parking around the corner, Tim Horton's on the way home for a quick coffee and Tim Bits This prime location for my education needs is the most convenient date.

I attended an online workshop for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) fundamentals. As someone who is educated in the field & a mental health worker, I’m very dissatisfied with the lack of knowledge on the professors part. The workshop included 2 full days of online learning (9-4) via zoom. Both days were a waste of my time. The professor could barely explain the difference between simple concepts as a “professional”. Example: the difference between emotional reasoning as a cognitive distortion and an intuition. Most students were lost during breakout rooms. An additional idea: do not play 20 minute Tedtalk videos when I’ve paid $1085.00 CAD to learn nothing. Do better. OISE should work on educating their educators & conducting deeper background checks.

Elitist, Unprofessional, Belligerent - Recently, I applied to the Healthcare Tech 9/10 AQ course and I want to share that experience. I have 5 years experience working in ambulatory care as a Registered Optician and 3 years working as a Teacher.Last summer, I called OISE and asked if my healthcare background could be assessed for admittance to the Healthcare Technology course. They said that wouldn't be a problem to do within a few weeks and to send in my application, which I did.Four months later, after I had spoken with reception several times, and after I paid the course fee, I received an email that said Thanks for your interest

The best thing that ever happened to me. If you have a chance to take studies with the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, it's one of those one-in-a-million kind of deals. I am a better human being, a better man, and a better schooled erudite; more informed, and, granted the education I have earned with this fine institute, have kindled within my spirit the scope, the skills, and a chance to make real change in the world - which this institute does, with fervour, and panache. Highly, *highly* recommended...

My home in Canada, especially English Language Program. The Best English course in a great environment with great people. Foods are so expensive in this building. Better get out and eat outside in places such as Tim Hortons. The entrance is on the side, not on the street side.

I'm giving two stars because of a terrible faculty advisor Anne Marie Chudleigh. She deserves 0 stars. She is a horrible human being. She is biased and rude towards students of colour. I dislike her and don't trust her. I had her as my faculty advisor and it was a horrible experience. I was pregnant and was having a very difficult time with my practicum. Anne Marie knew about my condition yet she failed to be empathetic towards me and my condition. She didn't listen to anything I had to say, rather she took sides with my supervisor who was extremely racist and narcissist. She told me that I am being lazy and bored which was NOT TRUE AT ALL. I worked extremely hard and dedicated most of my time to my practicum. Anne Marie doesn't deserve to be in the OISE faculty or a practicum coordinator. I complained about her to the Master of teaching program chair. They are teaching students to be unbiased and that faculty advisors are there to support students but when it comes to them complying towards this motto, I never saw that as actions speak louder than words. If I could write a petition to get her fired, I would do that 100% because I HATE HER !! She ruined the OISE experience for me when I was in my final semester. I had to withdraw from my winter practicum because she did not believe or cooperate in any way a faculty advisor is supposed to and had to take spring practicum while I was pregnant. Thankfully my spring practicum went extremely well and pleasant and thank God she was not my faculty advisor for spring. I was so happy and relieved for that.
