Kootenay Bay Ferry
Nice ride! As tourists wanted to try the ferry that connects two parts of a highway. We went with no expectations (kind of ‘let’s hope we don’t need to wait long) and left positively surprised. First, it’s for free. Second, the staff is very friendly, we arrived at time of departure and they still made space for us. Third, the view on Kootenay lake is stunning!! Only caveat: if you miss a ferry, there is quite some wait. But I guess there could be worse places to enjoy some fresh air waiting!

The Kootenay Bay Ferry has become an integral part of my road trips to Nelson, and I'm always willing to go the extra mile to experience it. The breathtaking views it offers never fail to amaze me, making the journey an absolute delight. Moreover, the consistent cleanliness and maintenance of both ferries over the years speak volumes about the dedication of the staff.

Nice ride across the lake!! Nice view everywhere you look from the sitting point of departure to your arrival on the other side. Was right on time! Washrooms available for your wait. A nice little beach area just to the side to enjoy while you wait.

Greatest ferry! I believe it's the longest free ferry in North America. Beings you about 5km south of Crawford bay, a lovely little town.The ferry is about 30 minutes with a small cafe on board where you can get sweet treats and warm beverages.Lovely ride
