I heard some good comments about this place so I decided to give it a try. The decor was quite elegant and the food quality was high. All the food were quite tasty. Although it was on the pricey side, but the portion was reasonable and the service was good. I would recommend this place if you want to try some authentic Shanghainese cuisine.We finally came here again to have some Shanghainese food for lunch. The ambiance was nice and calm. This time we ordered two cold dishes (Shanghai Style Chicken in Wine & Aged Vinaigrette Jellyfish) and two hot items (House Special Steamed Pork Buns (Xiao Long Bao) & Fried Rice Cake & Chinese Vegetables). We liked their hot dishes more because it tasted freshly made. The service was good as before.

We come here almost every week. The environment is clean. The service is warm. It reminds me of my time in Shanghai. It is the most authentic Shanghai restaurant in Toronto

As a native Shanghainese, I can't help but give this restaurant a glowing five-star review. Each dish we ordered was bursting with authenticity! The xunyu, shengjianbao, and zaoliuyupian surpassed all expectations. Every dish struck the perfect balance between sweet and savory – a trademark of true Shanghai cuisine. Just a heads up though, they only accept cash or debit cards.

I recently revisited this restaurant during Asialicious and was pretty impressed with all the food. The servers only speak Mandarin though, not much Cantonese or English.Xiao Long Bao - thin skin, super juicy, and meat is not too fatty. Some of the best I've had in Toronto!Special Vegetable Noodle Soup - This noodle soup was shockingly good! The noodles were thick, chewy, and absorbed the broth so well! As chewy as udon, but not as tough and a bit smoother. The veggies were stir-fried before being put in the soup, adding some aroma to the noodles. The soup tasted like soya sauce, much like Shaghainese fried noodles. There was a few tiny pieces of pork, wish there was more for that price. Overall, such a satisfying bowl of noodles!Shaoxing Chicken - I liked how they used free-range chicken, wasn't very strong on wine taste though.Wontons - average like other Shanghainese restaurants. Quite a few wontons though.

Since I was born in Shanghai, once in a while I like to try some beloved Shanghai cuisine.I invited my other 6 family members go there having some famous dishes. But other then good table service I was not able find any typical Shanghai tasting in all the dishes I ordered. Special the crispy duck was not only too dry but also too salty.I am pretty dispointment.

November 2021 3.5★Located in First Markham Place plaza, this restaurant has been here for many years. At least 5+ years now. Walking inside, there's a bit of Asian decor, probably from Shanghai along with photos of the chef and presumably some celebrities hung at the front.During the pandemic, there's a take out desk right at the front for places like uber eats and fantuan - a Chinese version.There's probably about 12 tables and can seat about 40 or so in total.There are about 3 private / large rooms.The China/tableware was already set up before you sit down and were a bit greasy/sticky. Honestly a turn off.As expected, the washroom was no better and like most other Asian places, there's no hot water.Ordered the house special - Saute Diced Chicken with Chili and Pepper Szechuan Style and while it was flavorful, the meat portions were small. It was also not hot enough.The House Special Pan Fried Buns were decent. The buns are an ok size and it was fairly juicy.The House Special Steam Pork Bun skin was thin, but didn't have enough soup filling.The Shanghai Style Fried Noodles were ok, but was really drenched in dark soy.The Pig's Intestine with Spicy Sauce was probably the best of the dishes I had. Though there weren't enough pig intestine and had a lot of mixed fillers like luncheon meat.Personally, each dish was ok. There were two prices based on membership ($20 to join and can be applied immediately) and unless you either eat here again, or spend a lot of money, it's really not worth it.

A very old establishment. Interiors and chinaware are showing their age. On the flip side, the food is consistent and OK (not superb). I'll take this over the newer, over-priced Green Tea restaurant next door any day. A good go-to place for southern Chinese food.

As someone who's well versed in authentic Shanghainese cuisine, this is one of the few restaurants in the GTA that can consider their food authentic". The price is fairly reasonable and with their $20 loyalty card
