Club 717

Not a club in the traditional, spacious, modern, and secure dance oriented venue. Cramped as it a small space, mostly furnished with folding plastic tables and similar chairs. Has a legitimate bar but no sense of style and very much in the industrial, mid 20th century style of the Oshawa of old. Doubles as community hub during the week, so lacks funding to update interior. Dance floor is highly limited. The crowd seems to be very cliquey and does not take well to outsiders interupting their vibe nor imposing on their views of dos and don'ts. Setting externally is an industrial area of Oshawa and offer a dank, squished corner in one of the plazas there. Parking is hard to maneuver as well. Security is non professional and folks choke the entry way, as the dressing room for performers is right off the entry hallway. Overall needs a tremendous reno physically and a reorientation in terms of purpose and vibe. Its website's claim to be the hottest LGBTQ+ venue in the Durham Region is mostly due to it being the only venue dedicated to this community east of Ajax or Whitby until Kingston.

Was a cool place! The DJ played great songs and had amazing mixes. The drinks are more reasonably priced than other GTA" clubs we have been to. We will definitely be back"

Nice place and above my expectation. Staff were friendly and it was a fun night to celebrate and kick off the pride month. I did not gave them 5 star because of the host. Everyone were seated but a few people decided to stand up to watch the show and as a result they were blocking a lot of people and they could bot watch the show. The host was approached and asked to request people to be seated but she did not care and said deal with it. It was very rude and disrespectful.

Highly recommend Club 717 as a great alternative to going downtown Toronto. It's a cozy positive safe space great for socializing with friends and enjoying the entertainment. I always have a great experience when I go. The staff are friendly, the drinks are cheap and its a great way support the local community.

Really saddened to read all the bad reviews. I used to come here at one back in the days more often when there were regulars (old-timers) I was was there not too long ago only when a friend of mine a musician did a LIVE outdoor performance during the pandemic and then went home. What has happened to CLUB 717? Why are the reviews so bad? We need a newsletter sent out with an explanation for those of us that -- that still keep up on CLUB 717 for many years. What you say?

Hardworking, personable and skillfull staff, and an awesome, diverse crowd. As with any bar, stay vigilant, but I have never felt safer.

Used to be my safe place. Not anymore as they let certain people who have been banned for different reasons back into the club. So disappointed as this was my go to place. If only they would do what is right…

Love the atmosphere here! I came with a group of 7-8 people for Friday night drag. All the queens and kings were awesome! The staff were super helpful when it came menu items and whatnot. I’m definitely coming back here (the cover is only $5, super affordable) !!!!
