Awesome place. Family friendly. Great for kids to learn valuable life skills that transcend just martial arts. Also good for adults that are serious about training.World caliber athletes as instructors. What more could you ask for?

Tina, Sean and all the instructors are the most knowledgeable and skilled in the city. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try out something new/ fun/ challenging while being fit and active at the same time.

Due to personal issues, I am no longer able to attend classes at Tina Takahashi, but what little time I had was a great experience.I have never participated in any martial art prior, but the teaching, advice, as well as culture fostered amongst other participants in the class made me feel welcome as a beginner as well as open to improvement and development. I can see myself coming here again once I am able and happily reccomending to any friends and family.I wish I had the opportunity to participate in the judo classes, but the kickboxing teachers and activities were also great!

My son has been attending TT for about 4-5 months and we have noticed a real improvement in his discipline and self-confidence!

I’ve been training at TT for about a year and have nothing but good things to say. I’ve lost close to 75lbs, in the best shape I’ve ever been and still getting better. The quality of instruction is always top tier for both Judo and Muay Thai and the classes are a super fun and friendly environment. Great place to learn martial arts, I’m always excited to go to the next class!

My son was feeling anxiety so I googled Martial Arts classes nearby to help him with that, and we enrolled in Tina Takahashi 3 months ago. The classes had a miraculous effect on him: after a couple of weeks only, he was already gaining confidence and it helped him a lot.I also enrolled to get in better shape, and it's really great to share this activity together, there are classes for different levels, and also a family class on Friday where parents and kids can participate together.Tina, Sean and their children all have impressive track records at olympic and world class competitions, so they definitely know what they're doing when teaching martial arts, but what's more important is the family spirit that they created in the dojo. Everyone spreads positive vibes and a culture of camaraderie that I really appreciate. This dojo is fantastic, I highly recommend.

My partner and I tried the 2 week trial. We both had a great time, everybody was very friendly and we were able to learn quite a bit. Due to some other reasons we couldn’t commit to signing up for classes, but would reconsider it in the future.

I have been training here for 3 months now, and in all respects, this place has exceeded my expectations and changed my life.Prior to signing up, I had been very unfit for most of my life, and had never enjoyed doing anything physical. I had never engaged in sports, and if I did force myself to get some exercise, I did so in a way that avoided other people. In my childhood I experienced a lot of bullying (especially when it came to anything physically demanding), and as a result I've generally been a very solitary person, afraid of people and being physically active in a social environment.I want to emphasise all this because I can't understate how transformative the last few months have been as far as all these things are concerned.Right from the moment I walked in, everyone I spoke with was very friendly and supportive. Normally I experience a lot of social anxiety when visiting new places and meeting new people, but any anxiety I had was immediately defused by the warm introduction. I want to specifically thank Naomi and Torin Sensei for immediately putting me at ease - something that is quite hard to do.I go for Muay Thai twice a week and Judo two or three times a week, which is on the intense end of the spectrum. Despite this, and despite my general lack of physical conditioning and experience, their approach to training is very achievable.Classes always start with a comprehensive warm up featuring a mix of running, stretching, and strength exercises. It pushes you to your limits, but even when I can't keep up, I've never felt judged for falling behind or needing to take a break. In the last three months, I've become much stronger, lost weight, gained a lot more stamina, and become more confident in myself and my abilities.Training in martial arts requires working with many partners, so it's inherently a very social undertaking. As I mentioned, I've struggled with this a lot of my life, so I was very surprised by how easily this club managed to get me to open up and develop friendships. Everyone is supportive and committed to learning. I never felt like I didn't belong there, even when I hard just started and didn't know what I was doing - someone was always meeting me where I was at and helping me digest anything I was struggling with. There's a wide range of ages - I've trained with teenagers and people in their 40s, and both men and women. The senseis are very experienced, both in the arts they are teaching, and in explaining and demonstrating the techniques. I have never been made to feel stupid for asking a question. They are also very safety-conscious - I've not seen any severe injuries in the time I've been there.Overall, I'm much more fit, social, calm, optimistic, confident, and self-assured. I can only express how grateful I am that I came across this club because it really has helped me become someone I thought I could never be.

Worth every penny. The Senseis show the same energy to those who put in the effort and are always willing to help, even after hours. They make sure to drill in the basics and then take you to an advanced approach at just the right pace for each individual. Honestly I had my doubts at first but I'm going to stay here for the next few years I'm in ottawa.

Enrolling my toddler for Martial Arts with Tina Sensei was one of the best decisions we (his parents) ever made. The dedication, care and devotion for the Art and the students, shown by Tina Sensei and her team at the Dojo, has made my kid want to be dedicated and is learning a lot of decipline and responsibility.Judo is a very tough sport, but Tina Sensei makes it fun, friendly, and safe for kids.
