This is a great online course. I was sceptical at first due to the number of courses out there. The quizzes after each section and practice exams were extremely helpful, as were the video presentations. All very effective in learning all about drones and getting licensed.

We hired Coastal Drone to train and prepare five of our staff to achieve the advance drone piloting license. The training format included a structured curriculum consisting of weekly self directed videos, and regular virtual meetings for coursework review, Q&A, and discussion leading up to the in-person testing phases. Coastal Drone was highly responsive to our needs in co-developing a curriculum that worked for us. Ian Wills delivered a well paced, responsive, supportive and by all measures, successful course that displayed his expertise, skill...and humour!

I cannot thank Coastal Drone enough! Thanks to their excellent courses I was able to get my Advanced Drone Certificate! Not only was the information plentiful and deep but the people AT Coastal are absolute gems! Brilliant and professional and wonderful to deal with. I took the video course offered by Kate of Coastal Drone and I also signed up for their exam prep (lots and lots of practice questions). Kate actually makes some pretty dry material quite enjoyable (I'm still laughing at her quoting the great philosopher

***UPDATE**Below is my original review [which was 2*]_ within few hours Coastal Drone phoned me to discuss the course and the online exam. After pleasant conversation some issues were identified as to possible reasons why the material on the test was not in the course. it was amazing to have a call so quickly and such a positive conversation! They truely do want to continualy improve and give the best possible training. Only reason for 4 star was to identify to future customers that at this point there is some problems with the course material and to carefully read all the supplemental marterial before you take the exam. Good job Coastal Drone!!___________I took the Basic Course and redid it muliple times until i could make sense out of everything they were saying. I redid the practice tests more than 20 times until I could 'consistantly' get 100% every time by understanding the answers ...not by memorizing them [I used Google many times to find explanations]. I passed the test with 80% but ONLY with the help of 90 minutes and Google. I have never felt more unprepared for a test. By far the majority of the questions were never covered in the course, I felt blindsided taking the online exam. Yes, I have my license but no, I don't feel like I deserved it. The course was a nice starting point but did not prepare me for the online exam. Unfortunately you can't see the online questions you got wrong so you can go back and learn from them

Would highly recommend the Coastal Drone course! Passed the exam first time, which would not have happened if I had just tried to prepare solo. The exam is fairly serious business and not something you're going to pass with just some general knowledge. The course was clearly presented with a bit of humor and the provided practice exams were invaluable. I'm deducting 1 star for what seemed to be a fairly big hole in the coverage, that being aviation chart reading. This was not really covered in the course itself but fortunately came up in the practice exams so I was forewarned to find more info. It is definitely a topic on the TC exam. I imagine they may fix this up over time.I've seen some negative reviews in the past. In fairness to Coastal Drone, this exam is pretty tough and covers all kinds of remotely piloted aircraft"

The way Coastal Drone Co. has set up the learning environment is awesome. You can learn at your own pace, when ever and where ever if you're using your smartphone or tablet.I am new to drones and I really enjoyed taking the Sub 250g and then the Basic Course. I passed the Basic exam on my first attempt! I feel comfortable and confident that when I go out flying that I am flying safely and not breaking any laws. I plan on taking a few of the other courses they have and the recency in 2 years.They do a great job breaking down the important information and providing practice exams so you too can pass the Transport Canada exam. As long as you're focused and invest your time you should have no problem passing the TC exam using the services provide by Coastal Drone Co. !

Just passed my RPAS Basic exam first time. The course is well worth the money and really helped me with the fundamentals of drone flight. Course was well put together and didn't feel like a boring slide show presentation.i look forward to the other courses they offer as I get more comfortable with flying.

I would highly recommend Costal Drone. Their customer service is fantastic! I had a great converstaion with Ian (the president). Very approachable and shared a lot of valuable information with me. The course is very user friendly and well done. Highly Recommend!!
