Tails of a weary traveler....I had just spent a week away from home and on my way home due to 'technical issues' my first flight was delayed and I missed my connection. After hours of delays, with ramp issues, line ups for $10 meal voucher I finally found a hotel close to the airport in an industrial park and retired at 130 am. The airlines rebooked my flight for 9 pm the next night.With no amenities close by I headed out the local ice rink as it had a restaurant. There are Canlan Sports complexes across the country and having a hockey family we have seen a few over the years. This was the best one.A had found 'my people'. Multiple games going on at various levels and lots of family support for the participants, I felt so comfortable and just like I was home. 4/5 stars.The last star is for my server Anna, she actively listened to my troubles, provided much needed compassion and immediate friendship. It was a real pleasure to make a new friend.Glenn

Refs are terrible, management responds with excuses for refs and why players are allowed to body check and injury players with no discipline. The league needs to take responsibility for the refs It's not the teams fault you have no refs in ontario" Teams pay a fee to have these refs protect players. If they cant break up fights

I’ve been playing in the ASHL since 2010, so 13 years.Sadly I came here to write a review with the exact same concern as other recent reviewers, for example:Kevin Burke: “Refs are terrible, management responds with excuses for refs”Darren Kerr: “The refs let games get out of hand. Too many players are getting injured and nothing happens.”The convenors are great, the facilities are well maintained, and I’ve enjoyed playing in the ASHL for over a decade.Unfortunately the quality of referees has hit an all time low and I see injuries and dangerous plays more and more as a result of referees that don’t care to officiate the game properly.Sadly every team we talk to that raises concerns to the league has the same story as our team - the league and head referee makes excuses on behalf of their referees.I’m here not to trash the league, but rather to add another review like the one provided by Kevin and Darren in the hopes that the league will acknowledge this problem with the referees and do something to ensure everyone’s safety on the ice.

Was assaulted on the ice. A guy baseball swung his stick into the back of my right leg which caused me to miss 2 days of work. The refs at first weren't going to call a penalty, then gave him a 4min after they saw i couldnt even stand up. He wasn't even kicked out of the game. After the game i sent an email to the league...I didn't even get a response. I later find out that that guy only got a one game suspension. This arena, league is atrocious. The refs let games get out of hand. Too many players are getting injured and nothing happens. Very poorly run. This ASHL is supposedly safe...its far from that!

I like the allstar wings restaurant there! Close to highway is a good thing

DO NOT GET YOUR SKATES SHARPENED AT THE PRO SHOP. Worst skate sharpening I've ever gotten in the 15yrs I have been playing hockey. An absolute travesty. Should have known when buddy told me 'it'll be 10mins' and there were 4 pairs of skates ahead of mine. Total incompetence and laziness.

Very bad experience. Their re-education of 6 year olds is very unprofessional. I'm communicating with them. When you're ready to get your kids involved in their activities. Be aware that they will not patiently attend to your children and will simply order them to leave. The reason is that the child does not obey orders. too terrifying. They don't get kids into sports, they are dream busters

Very nice and clean arena the ice surface was like glass. the young men taking care of ice and the change rooms were very helpful when I asked for help. A very positive experience.

I had to withdraw from the program, after registering for the class less than 24hours ago. The class starts in over one month away. Beware of their administrative fee to cancel classes. Very poor customer service from Canlan.
