Iron Bow Fly Shop

Had such a great experience ordering from this store. I purchased an item online and mentioned that it was a birthday present. Iron Bow went out of their way to gift wrap the item within a short time frame. Everyone at the store was super helpful and knowledgeable and exchanging for another size was a breeze - will be back soon!

After 10 years I decided to upgrade some of my arsenal. I live in Ontario and found this place a few weeks ago. The local shops here don’t even carry some of the items I was looking for. But most important. The staff at Iron Bow are amazing, super helpful. You can tell they simply love what they do. I’m still learning lots - and the staff there made me feel at home and provided solid advice based on their experience.

The guys at Iron Bow go above and beyond when it comes to creating a great environment. I remember my first time going in as a complete rookie and it didn’t matter the questions I asked, I never felt like I was being spoken down to and two years on it’s the exact same, only now I feel as though I’m visiting friends when I enter the shop. Whether you’re just getting into fly fishing or have been doing it for years, this is the place to go.The fact it’s also dog friendly just makes it that much better.

Adam L was super friendly and helpful - very knowledgable and you can tell he has a passion for fishing. Gave some great advice to help me get into fly fishing :)

Mike and Gianni are some of my most favorite people and are always willing to help out with info, advice and fun stories. I just took Mike’s intermediate fishing course and learned a BUNCH of stuff to help.This is the fly shop you want to go to in Calgary. Everyone is welcomed and treated as a friend.

I'm a novice fly fisher at best(literally days into it). I asked what flies I should pick up as I was going to camp along the Livingstone for couple of days and I was enthusiastically shown a variety flies. I was not let down and had a great trip.I would definitely recommend the shop and staff at Iron Bow

Took their beginner course. It was awesome Paul and Kevin where great. Highly recommend this course they took the time to explain everything so it was understandable to a beginner. Catching 4 rainbow trout at the pond didn't hurt my feelings either.

I contacted Iron Bow about lessons after looking on the internet for a couple days, they responded to my questions quickly and I felt that even though it was more expensive it would be worth it for the experience.My son and I took the beginner fly fishing lessons today. It was a great time, they took us to a private pond where we had a very informative session of fly fishing gear. Then we were onto casting techniques, with two instructors there was plenty of coaching and positive feedback. We had lunch then went back to class, learning about how fish live and when to use different types of flies. A quick break and back to more casting and tricks and tips.Around 3:00 Kevin started setting up our rods while Paul gave us tips on what gear is essential, and what gear makes for an easier fishing experience. Finally we got to test our skills on the pond. I caught 2 beautiful trout, and with Paul’s help my son (11 years old) had a fish on and landed the biggest rainbow of the day. What a great way to spend a Saturday in June. I can’t wait to test our new skills and be back for the second round of lessons next season.The only criticism I could have is lunch was not provided. But It would not stop me from being a lifetime customer. Thanks guys for spending more time with my son to make sure he landed that Beauty.
