Thrifty Car Rental - Newmarket,ontario TLE

The manager is very aggressive. He tried to make me buy their insurance when I already had bought insurance through Expedia. He then refused to let me leave with the car that I had already paid for through Expedia. He was an angry, bitter, and rude man. I would not recommend this company to anyone, and I still plan on contacting the better business bureau to report the aggression. If 0 stars were an option, I would pick that. Renter beware.

Went there for an insurance claim. First vehicle smells like somebody threw up in it made my family sick being in it. Second car they gave me they had me wait for 30 minutes because they didn't want to give me an upgrade. Then the vehicle had a tire going flat they forced me to go to a tire repair shop for 45 minutes again so they wouldn't have to give me an upgrade. Called corporate they sounded very concerned but did nothing never even returned call. Was enough for treated so poorly.

Hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced ! Gave me a banged up car as a rental, called me 2 days after I returned the car for him to call me yelling at me saying I owe him 125$ for a new tire when really it only cost him 35$ to fix (according to my dealership) and took 100$ off of my card credit for no reason still waiting for it to be returned.Go anywhere but here !!! They are a bunch of crooks !

I don't know what all the other negative feedbacks are about. I have a very good experience renting a car from them. I urgently needed a car to attend a wedding ceremony, but no car was available anywhere, until I went to Thrifty and they have a car for me. I went in and the shop owner/front desk man, came out from his office right away to greet me. I told him I need a car small/mid size car for the weekend, he arranged everything very quickly and I got to drive out of the lot in 15 mins. When I returned my car, after his inspection, he even discounted me $10 for putting in more gas than I should.This is the second time I rented from them, a few years ago I rented from them when my car broke down, same great customer experience.I will definitely rent from them again.

Horrible experience, the guy at the shop was very rude to the customer. I have been renting car in different countries in the past few years, such as USA and Japan, but this is the only one I would complain about..

Absolutely horrible customer service - claimed they did not have a vehicle, then when asked about the vehicle outside mentioned that it is for another customer even though it was the same class of vehicle. Had to shorten trip because of their incompetence. Recommend literally anything else in the area... or walking!

THE WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE IN NEWMARKET! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE OR YOU WILL BE SORRY. I called Thrifty 800 Roadside assistance and they do not recognize these guys, so I was stuck with a defective car all weekend! No sympathy from the manager. A broken caliper made the car unsafe! They do not check their cars for safety issues before their next rental, and the car was not that clean. Customer service is non existent, Thrifty Roadside assistance do not recognize these guys. GO ANYWHERE ELSE! (Enterprise car rental in Newmarket is a way better experience!)

This place is a joke. Placed a rental from one month ago and now, the day before I need the vehicle, they call and say 99.9% sure you won’t have a vehicle and you need to find one elsewhere. What a joke of a business. Save your money. They will just swear at you over the phone.

** I walked into thrifty Rent-a-Car one time. After the owner yelled and accused me of lying about my rental destination, I went across the street to discount car rentals on George Street. They have very comparable prices to thrifty, there's a reason that they have been getting my business for 10 years. **If I could give this rental location negative Stars I would. As you can see with the other reviews, the problem here is the owner.The owner constantly tries to change prices on people, lies about the condition of cars, attempts to get you to fix damaged that wasn't yours, and is one of the rudest people I've ever met.The first time I ever went to this location, the owner accused me of lying about my destination, insisting that I owed more because he thought he knew where I was actually going.When I disagreed with him he told me that he does not have a car for me and to get out of his store.

The worst customer service I have received from a car rental representative. 1st when we book the Car the car is not ready and the (RUDE MF) tell us please go and come back in 30-45 min. We come back and we are ready to pay and I was trying yo explain to him my card was charged already. He started raising his voice and I told him please to calm down there is jo need to be yelling.We left when he told us “If you don’t like it go somewhere else”………. Not impressed at all. I suggest al people to go to ENTERPRISE RENT CAR ….. better service.
