Kids Photography Academy

My son took the Photo Framing Fun workshop for 5-8 year olds and absolutely love it! He is really hoping to take more classes with Janet! She was so great with the kids and did an amazing job of explaining things and showing examples! I definitely recommend this class.

Janet’s photography camp got my lethargic teenager out the door and focusing a camera on something other than herself. The daily activities taught her how to use the various technical adjustments of the camera and perspectives to make a photo into a piece of art. As an instructor, Janet’s patience and enthusiasm for personal creativity is amazing, and my 13yo came out of the camp feeling confident and with a newfound passion for taking photos and visiting small towns. 10/10 would recommend for creative teens looking for an outlet.

Photo Framing Fun for 5-8 year olds was excellent. Janet packed the course with fun and skill learning. The concepts were presented in a way kids could understand and remember. In a total of 3 hours the kids have become way better at taking good interesting photos.

My 2 kids attended Janet’s course in spring 2023 and it was fantastic. They learned so much but also had lots of fun too. Janet is a wonderful instructor and was able to teach all the camera tools and techniques in an age appropriate way. My kids now have the knowledge to take great photos for many many years into the future. It’s a skill and passion that will hopefully last a lifetime. Thanks Janet!

Before learning from Janet at Kids Photography Academy, our son was not interested in photography or creative expression. Janet brought out his competitive nature and gave him an outlet to express himself. I noticed his mood lighten, his playfulness come out, and his perspectives open up. I am so happy he's a student of the Kids Photography Academy. It is truly a no-brainer!

My daughter loved this program. She attended both an in-person Summer Camp and joined the 30-day challenge and the content, creativity and learnings were amazing. Some of the exercises she did I am going to go through with her again so she can teach me too! Janet’s style and commitment to teaching a love of photography is second to none.

My 12 year old daughter loved the course with Janet. She learned much about how to use different functions on our camera and enjoy it instead of using a phone taking pictures. She continued with 30 day photography challenge. Thank you so much fantastic teacher Janet.

My kids (8 and 11 years old) did the 30 day photo challenge with KPA. The daily photo tasks were creative, engaging, well organized and easy to follow. It taught all of us how to look at the objects and spaces around us in brand new ways. It was fun for the kids to post their favourite photos on the website, and Janet was quick to give feedback, which motivated them to keep improving. The kids learned a lot, but so did I!

Janet visited my class through a photography residency and I was blown away by her knowledge, creativity and ability to engage my students. Janet took the time to sit down with me and was able to tailor her lessons to what we were learning in class, covering not only her passion of photography but ELA and Health. I especially enjoyed that Janet provided a very hands-on experience, as we got to spend a lot of time outside putting our newfound knowledge into practice. Furthermore, at the end of our residency, Janet hand-wrote feedback for every student, acknowledging all their hard work and making them feel so special. I highly recommend her services to any educator looking to incorporate photography into their classroom!
